I want a Netbook.

My laptop is dying, so I've decided to replace it with a netbook for a few reasons:

a) You can't play WoW on a Netbook, and so I will not be able to play the new expansion, thus keeping my life
b) I don't use my current lappy for anything but the internet
c) It's small

So, really all I need to be able to do is: Normal internet usage, watch Hulu, use iTunes, MS Word... Um, yeah that's about it. My current lappy overheats if you watch videos on it

Anyway, can someone more knowledgeable in this area give me a few suggestions?

** Bonus points if it's pink, purple or some other girlieness.

You can play wow on a netbook no problem. You just need to spend a little extra for the good ones. And I know plenty about netbooks lolololool. Sadly I'm going to sleep so I'll toss my KNOWLEDGE up later. PRICE POINT PLZ! Will make life alot easier recommending wise. And ideal size would be good. I've found 12-13" ones to be sexy.

REALLY I CAN PLAY WOW ON A NETBOOK!??!

Okay, lets do a "functional as listed" one for $400 or less then let me know how much more it would be to play WoW on it.. just in case.

I'm not concerned about size. If it's cheaper to go smaller, then I'm okay with that.

Right now I have a Dell Inspirion 15 inch and I liked it a lot until it started overheating, and the power adapter just died (which is $100 to replace, so I figure.. NEW COMPY!) and it was $500, then I added ram & a webcam so it was $575 before shipping.

Theres 2 ways to play games on a netbook. The expensive way or the cheap way. Expensive way means WoW max detail at good framerate. Cheaper way means decent framerate on low quaility. YOU CHOOSE YOUR POKEMON EXPERIENCE!

Low end is around $500-600. High end around 700-900. Obviously if you're playing games you dont want a ponsy 8" screen. I think around 12-13" is the perfect size. Ofcourse netbooks will be more expensive than your average gaming laptop and not as powerful. You pay more for smaller size. I mean a 15" laptop that can run wow pretty well will be cheaper. But yeah, you want a netbook.

Some of the lower end that will play WoW at low detail fairly nice would be the Samsung N510, Asus 1201N, HP Mini 311,. Theres some others. You can actually look up some reviews of these and even check out some youtube clips of these systems running the game. One I'd like to recommend is the Lenovo X200. Its such a delicious little thing. Sadly its about a grand lololololo. But you get what you pay for.

If you want a good netbook make sure it has an ION inside it. Good gaphics settups inside are the 4500 or the 9600 and up. Obviously they'll get a little pricier but you need to think about how many things you want to do with it, the quality of it, and how long you plan to keep it without it killing you because of its slow performance. So basically save up a little or take advantage of some sort of pay over 6+months scheme some of the stores have. Bill Me Later etc. But definitely look up reviews first. Find out how good the keyboard is, the monitor, and especially the heat it puts out.

Hm. Okay, lets skip any gaming aspects then.

What do you recommend in the $400 or less range?

And what's ION? Where do I find if that's in it? (Hi, I'm really computer dumb)

My girlfriend has an Acer that works fairly well and set her back $300. It has no optical drive. When she gets a virus she can just boot to the BIOS screen and reformat the drive which she has done a few times because she keeps catching viruses (just like in real life)!

I think you should just use an xbox.

Heres a review for the netbook you were looking at from a site I like. I would label it as a poor choice.

I read the review, and it seemed pretty decent to me. I guess I don't really understand....

So, what do you recommend for just using the internet, MS word, and watching a few TV shows? I don't need anything fancy, just something that doesn't overheat if I leave it on for more than an hour.

I think I like the Asus better. It's $84 more, but I don't have any idea what the differences are.

Asus is a great netbook imo, they are the only ones I sell at my job.
