I was planning to buy the klingons arent as fleshed out as the humans. I have a friend who stopped playing the beta because he said it was crap, but he's extremely picky so I cant rely on that. I'm going to wait till its out for a little and then see. I would of jumped in if it had the Cardassians from the start though.

They are offering lifetime subscriptions...

I am highly tempted. This game looks great.

Normally I'd say "Star Trek? bleh..."

But Cryptic is one of the few Western devs that I actually like so this will probably kick ass.

Dont go too crazy with those. Just consider how often you even reach $100 before you get bored of an MMO. I know some who spend years on the same one but thats different.

I usually stay away from MMOs, but I am just too into Star Trek. I was even a Star Trek captain for Halloween this year (shh).
I don't like having to pay a monthly fee and feeling obligated to play a game every month no matter what, but the lifetime subscription model means I can take a break for a while without harm.

Giant Bomb is posting some videos from the beta:

http://www.giantbomb.com/star-trek-o...rt-01/17-1871/

The first one shows off the character creation in detail as well as the first mission.

Darren did you decide if you're getting the game? I preordered it from Steam. I think GameStop actually has the best preorder bonus though.

Preorder bonuses
All preorders receive access to the open beta and Head Start program. Open Beta runs through January 26, 2010. Early head start will begin on January 29, 2010. (Note that a lot of stuff isn't available in the beta, and it's buggy of course.)

Amazon: Borg Bridge Officer & $10 gift card
GameStop: Constitution-class starship
Atari: 500 Cryptic Points, Joined Trill
Best Buy: Tribble and Targ pets
Direct2Drive: Multi-spatial Personal Shield
Steam: Cryodynamic Armor
Target: TR-116 Ground Rifle
Walmart: Additional skill points, $10 gift card

Digital Deluxe Edition Bonuses:
Available from Steam, GameStop, Atari, and others for $10 over the regular version, the Digital Deluxe Edition includes the following extras:
TOS Uniform set, NX Registry Prefix, “KHAAAN!” emote, Klingon Blood Wine emote, and Automated Defense Battery.

Collector's Edition (retail) Bonuses:
Physical items:
Deluxe Packaging - Futuristic 3dX holography set in a high quality brushed aluminum finish.
Deluxe Manual - Hardbound, art book, manual, and disc case in a single, elegant package.
Communicator Badge - High quality cast metal design based on the in-game badge model.
Guest Passes - Credit card-style buddy passes entitling friends for a ten day game trial.
In-game items: Red Matter Capacitor, Deep Space Nine Uniforms

Admiral Outfit:
Star Trek: The Original Series Volume 3 on Blu-Ray includes an exclusive code for the admiral outfit.

I've been screwing with the beta. Its very different to any MMO but I'm really enjoying it.

I really want to play! ! I wouldn't mind a Borg bridge officer! They'd be amazing to have on crew! They will adapt to any damage! Except for species 8472! Are they in it too?!

Can anyone confirm there are Intrepid Class Starships?

I havent seen any but since its set after the 25th century and the intrepids were built in the later 24th, then they should appear. Maybe you get to fly one when you get higher in level. I know your ship changes and gets larger after a certain amount of levels.

Species 8472 is in the game but not playable, I think.

Here's a list of playable Federation races (but there are also custom ones):

And here are the ships:

Thanks you guys! It looks so exciting. I don't know where to buy it from though.

And i saw the Tier V ship is the Intrepid class. Yeah. THE BEST ONE of course has to be the hardest to get!

I Dont know if I'll get it at launch. Money might not be the best thing for me at the time. And I'm still annoyed cardassians arent playable yet.
