Vidia's new 470/480 DX11 cards

So the wait is over, it'll be out on april 12th. GTX470 will be $349, and the GTX480 will be $499. No word on how the other cards prices will be affected. Heres some benchmarks-

To be honest I expected a little more. But its still pretty good. But then we get to the two things that really bug me about these cards. Heat, noise, and power usage.

I dont like those. Mind you its sort of expected since the card is so powerful. But yeah. The thing to remind yourselves about these cards is they do tesselation really well in DX11. Something the ATI cards dont. Also PHYSX is done extremely well. Heres some specs..

For me I wouldnt buy these. I'd wait for the next budget versions of the card to come out, though that wont happen for a good 6-7months at least. If you dont mind shelling out that money, grab the $350 one. Otherwise stick with the dx10 nvidia cards for the time being.

More benchmarks at the link.

I would probably go with the HD5870 if it's a little cheaper. I've actually been doing some reasearch lately incase I decide to build a new computer this summer. What graphics card are you currently using? Actually, just list your whole system for me. :-)

hopefully the price of a 280 goes down enough now. I might switch my card for it. which is just a radeon 3870, I only got it cause it was 90 bucks, but it's a really decent card, runs everything great considering how old it is now.

3gig dual core intel cpu and 8800gts 512mb card. I can still run almost any game max smoothly with that 3 year old card. I also plan to stick with nvidia since physx only works with them. I refuse to lose that graphic feature by switching to ATI. I'd rather wait till the next batch of cards come out before I upgrade since I really want tesselation on the power of the new nvidia line. ATI is just shit compared.
