Voodooextreme and Gamespys top PC 2005 awards
First up Voodooextreme since I think they're good compared to gamespy.
Best PC Action Game 2005 - F.E.A.R. Developed by Monolith, Published by VUG F.E.A.R. has awesome graphics, second-to-none AI and a compelling story. While it may borrow a lot of influences from other games and movies, the end result is a unique and outstanding first person shooter. Whenever a developer goes out on a limb to create a new IP (intellectual property) they should be commended, and even rewarded. Runners up: Battlefield 2, Call of Duty 2 Honorable mentions: SWAT 4, Brothers in Arms Best PC Strategy Game 2005 - Civilization IV Developed by Firaxis, Published by 2K Games Civ IV is one of the most addictive games ever released. From the new 3D graphics, to having Spock do the technology voice overs, Civ IV rocks the ages. Taking over the Earth was never so much fun. Runners up: Age of Empires III, The Movies Honorable mentions: Act of War: Direct Action, Empire Earth II Best PC RPG 2005 - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Published by LucasArts Honors for best PC role playing game this year go to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, which interestingly enough wasn't developed by BioWare, but Obsidian Entertainment. They're also busy at work on another BioWare property - Neverwinter Nights 2. So the future is looking bright for these ex-Interplay cats. Runners up: Dungeon Siege II, Guild Wars Honorable mentions: Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich, Fable: The Lost Chapters Best Graphics 2005 - F.E.A.R. Developed by Monolith, Published by VUG F.E.A.R. is one of those games that to fully appreciate, you need a really hardcore, heavy duty gaming rig. On medium settings, the visuals are hardly a step above Max Payne 2. But fully cranked up, the graphics are mind-blowing and show off what a game on the PC can do. F.E.A.R. is the perfect game to show off your new video card off with. If you're among the unbelievers, hopefully you were nice this year and Santa will be hooking ya up. Runners up - Age of Empires III, Call of Duty 2 Honorable mentions: Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, King Kong Best Underdog 2005 - Psychonauts Developed by Double Fine, Published by Majesco Once planned to be an Xbox launch title, Tim Shafer's Psychonauts finally saw the light of day in 2005. After shuffling publishers and years of delay, this little gem got swept under the rug. We can point fingers all we want, but the bottom line is that if you haven't played Psychonauts, make sure to check it out. Runner up - Darwinia Honorable mention: Serious Sam 2 More Awards Best PC Racing game - Need for Speed Most Wanted - EA Best Simulation - Silent Hunter III - Ubisoft Best Adventure game - Indigo Prophecy - Atari Best expansion pack - Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Winter Assault - THQ Best new developer - Arena.net for Guild Wars Best movie game - Peter Jackson's King Kong - Ubisoft Best World War II game - Call of Duty 2 - Activision Best multiplayer - Battlefield 2 - EA Best Audio - Call of Duty 2 - Activision Best Console port - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Rockstar |
