Oh, Onlive, you make me laugh.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/17/onlive-confirms/
cloud gaming is a sinking ship! Onlive wants to sue Sony for buying gaikai which is the same thing as them for patent infridgement and they laid off 50% of their employees during a buyout and their costs are making them go bankrupt which are over 5 million dollars a month. I feel bad for anyone who wasted money on this service, cause it will be gone soon. If they can't even afford to run servers with users during their peak times which is 1800 or so users, there isn't any hope for them.

I have used the service before and it is solid. Its biggest hurdle though is that there simply is not enough people on broadband. A service like this relies on people having a very good connection with no data caps.

and in places like Canada that will never happen.
My ISP is almost the only ISP that has unlimited bandwidth that goes with awesome speeds. Teksavvy is the only other one other than mine that I can get in my area but they are slow DSL in my area. Which is why I didn't switch to them.

Right. I am moving soon and my new property doesn't have highspeed at all. Now a mile down the road you can get it but no one else on the street can.

Reality is right, OnLive is a perfectly valid service and it works well, in the future streaming like this could become the standard, but we're years and years from it being viable to the masses because of Internet speeds and limitations.

Of course when you look at the cost its pretty nasty. You are at the mercy of some of the most powerful yet greedy corporations in the country. Offering you 10gb of Data for $60. $10 more than what I pay already for unlimited broadband running at 10mb a sec. Maybe it'll improve years from now with things like national wifi. http://www.dailytech.com/Obama+Revea...ticle20887.htm but I wont hold my breath..

I think it's going bye bye soon tho, despite what they're saying about trying to save it, whoever bought it maybe only wants it for the patents cause they won't say who bought them.
