Scifi setting, think Elite. You fly around in space with your choice of profession. ie, asteroid miner, pirate, trader, etc. You buy ships, buy weapons etc, you fly around in space. It might bore some people, but if you're a fan of games like X1-3, Elite, Freelancer, Privateer, hell any space sim with trading and blowing things up, its excellent. And has some glorious music.

Ive only played the beta and my friend is currently playing it. I'd like to hop over to it at some stage, but currently I'm screwing with Villains in my spare time.

Go google Eve online, Xander, you can sign up for a 2 week free trial and check it yourself. Even though its been in the market a long while, its still one of the graphically more impressive games and it has the ebst sountrack ever. You do have to like the genre though, personally after I caught myself repeatedly falling asleep in my chair while my ship mined minerals from a fucking meteorite, I decided the game was not for me. :p

I stick with City of Heroes/Villains. It's not point and click, and once you get past level 7 and have a decent 'combo chain' it feels more like an old arcade-style beat-em-up, only with a team of 8. It's the only game where I find 'grinding' to actually be fun, especially on fist-melee types. I like the fact there is no loot, it just means that someone is going to win because of their tactics and skill, and not because they have no job and live in their parent's basement. I rescently burned 20 bucks on Lineage II, and tried WoW, which I played for a total of 2 hours, it was all I could stomach. I just can't play point-and-click games. It's not like I have a short attention-span, I just can't stand them. I would rather play a turn-based MMO than a point-and-click.

If you're looking for something more 'traditional' you might wanna hold out for Phantasy Star Universe.

Edit: Btw Seska, hawt avatar. Now gtfo and gb2 /s/.

Hey Xander, I thought you were going to get RF Online? Anyways, I found that playing MMORPGs with people you don't know all the time kinda sucks. I have some friends that are on the same server on WoW as me and it's hell of a lot better than without them.

Plus, it's is kinda hard to avoid grinding in general in a lot of MMORPGs. WoW made quests which is grinding, but gives you a goal other than leveling up.

RF online appeals to me. Then again, every MMORPG appeals to me. I must stop!

RF Online sucks. It sucks so hard that my brother in law who went over to it thinking he'd enjoy it said it sucked. And he liked Lineage2. He calls RF Online a really shittier grinding version of L2. He kept hammering and trying to find reasons to like it, but after 1 week he had to stop. Says worst game ever. He should of listened to me before buying it!

Are you serious about "too much grind" in WoW? WoW has to be one of the easiest mmo I've played and I have played a lot. There are plenty of quest to lvl with. I have 4x 60 in WoW all with less than 14 days played time. My first two lvl 60 were quest/grind and the other two were just pure grind and twinked. If anything I say FFXI and EQ is more grinding then WoW.

EVE Online would be great if they let players actually control their ship. Like Freelancer, Descent Freespace, or X series. But no.. lets do right click to move. Also I think its dumb to let 1 person control a capital ship and you can't even let people man the turrets. Allegiance/SWG anyone?

Quests are still grinding. There's no difference between killing 50 monsters for the hell of it and killing 50 monsters to get 10 items with a 20% drop rate.

Oh but there is. If you accept say 5-10 quests from one zone and do them, which requires running around killing mobsm, delivery notes, spawning waves, etc. The end reward is greater than just pure grinding. Questing is NOT always grinding. Grinding is the lazy way to do it but it works. Still whatever method you choose to lvl in WoW, it is SO easy. All you need is some effort or play with some friends to kill the boredom, or heck join a PvP server. You said you played FFXI, I don't see how you think WoW requires more grinding than FFXI. Where you Lvl get jobs lvl again, more jobs, lvl again.. everytime you multiclass you start at 1 and repeat what you did with your last job. I find that to be annoying. I don't know how easy it is now because I only played FFXI for 6 months after it was released in NA.

The easiest way is to level, without being stupid enough to pay a person to do it, is find a friend with a high level. Then have them escort you through quests. This accomplishes a few things: you are less likely to die (at all or at least not often if you do it right), finish low level quests fast, do upper level quests in a small group so that you get more xp and better chance for good drops, and a few other things. The best part is that, unless your friend is an ass, you get all the drops since your friend won't need the gear cause he should have better. The biggest danger in games such as WoW when using this technique is getting ganked by the opposition in border areas.

I stopped playing WoW cause I got bored of it and kind of didn't feel like starting all over again in GW after having gotten so many guys to lvl 20 during the beta and alpha testing. Especially since there wasn't as much new content in the early stages as I was hoping for.

I stopped when I got my mount. I'm just not interested in putting that much time into it, which is probably why the genre doesn't appeal to me anymore.
