The new Photoshop CS5

This thing is amazing. Click on the picture clips in the link. That content aware fill feature is freaking awesome. I love some of the other effects too.

Yeah we have been following the development of this at work for a month. Content aware would make taking product pictures much easier.

However it's unseen if our company can actually justify the cost of upgrading. It would save a lot more time but Photoshop still retains its unrealistic price tag.

I think I'll stick with CS3 unless this is worth pirating.

The price is pretty retarded for sure. But its actually the first time I've seen it have such excellent new additions. This one justifies itself alot more then the previous 2 if you ask me.

Content Aware is sooooo not gonna be like that. It will be SHIT.

But anyway, you can do that in CS2 and CS3, it just requires more clicking.

If by more clicking you mean several tedious hours of clicking.

Content aware looks nothing short of amazing.

I've been using CS2 for years, but it looks like I might finally be ready to try the newest version.

This is probably the most accurate statement in this thread. There will be some small cases where it works as well as Adobe's demos, but mostly it will give you very STRANGE results. It's like Apple's noise removal in Soundtrack Pro. Their demos show them taking out hiss and other obtrusive noises from audio and nothing remains but the sound you want to preserve and ONLY that sound. In some rare cases, it works great, but in most cases once the noise is removed, the remaining audio sounds extremely distorted, like a 128kbps MP3 file you'd find on Limewire. Unacceptable for professional work. Of course most of you will never use Photoshop professionally so it bad results won't matter and it will be fun to play with.

What surprises me is that Adobe's demos show it running on a Mac with an old OS. I thought Adobe and Apple were mad at each other.

My professor just showed us some examples of what he got from playing around with content aware. It looks like it does a pretty nice job with some things (mainly greenery), but it definitely isn't perfect. For the most part, it lays down a nice foundation to work with, not a finished result in one step.
