It isn't unlocking DX10 or anything, it just opens up features locked if you weren't using DX10. If you run with DX9 normally, you don't have the ultra high settings for textures and other things avaliable, this just edits those settings changes to allow ultra high details in DX9 mode. You won't get the nicer partical effects or lighting (but it's a minor difference, really).

Major difference to the water, rocks/boulders, and general terrain. Now my game only runs 20 fps though because I implemented all of the changes. May go back and only change the water and terrain and leave the rest.

Going to wait for mods before picking it up (and a new VC).

don't worry much about dx10 (very high), as there is barely any difference from dx9 on high. the most noticeable differences from High to Very High(dx10 only) are the colorgrading effect (makes colors look more realistic, less cartoony) and the sunshaft "halo" effect which makes light go through leaves and trees more intensely.

no matter what you do with your settings though, crysis still has horrible aliasing issues. it really hurts the overall visual quality of the game, especially when you're at a vantage point where you can see a lot of foilage. the edgealiasing setting doesn't help much, either.

Quote:
Crysis uses a special rendering method for its foliage (grass, leaves, bushes), which means that regardless of your level of Antialiasing applied, these will remain quite jagged-looking.
http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_1.html has a pretty good guide that might help you find your best settings.
