Konami to Officially Dissolve and Restructure Production Divisions

Just dissolve and don't come back, sell IPs to other companies, it's just an empty shell anyway.

Konami to Officially Dissolve and Restructure Production Divisions

Konami Dissolve Production Divisions

Konami officially announced that the corporation will dissolve, then restructure its production divisions. The website, both available in Japanese and English, stated that Konami will take action involving all three production divisions in “response to the rapid market that surrounds” the company. The restructuring and dissolution will be effective immediately on February 1, 2021.

Alongside this, the website listed office personnel changes and corporate officers that will be instated to new positions on the same date as part of the endeavor. These people included newly appointed corporate officers and a newly appointed executive officer. Select members from all three production divisions will be moved to general production departments and product support divisions. Konami provided no further information regarding the structural change within the company.

Recently, Konami re-released select titles from the Metal Gear and Silent Hill series on PC through the GOG storefront. Alongside this, it released the Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania and Contra PC versions. Both are currently available to purchase and download through the GOG storefront as well.

In May 2020 Konami uploaded the Castlevania series original soundtracks to Spotify. The soundtracks are currently available to stream internationally. The available soundtracks include titles like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.

That's a disappointment -- isn't Sony making a PS5 Silent Hill? At least that was rumored.

Konami's production restructure has not 'shut down gaming division'

When you little scamps get together you're like a sewing circle...

Last week, industry giant Konami announced that it would be going through something of a corporate restructure, consolidating some of its internal departments and rearranging its personnel in order to better streamline its production division in response to a rapidly changing market. What it did not do, however, was "close down its gaming division."

This was the word that fast spread around the internet yesterday, popping up all over social media despite the actual announcement being made back on January 15. In response to this fast-spreading rumor, the long-time developer sent a hastily penned official statement to IGN, confirming that, for the most part, it remains business as usual at chez Konami.

"The announcement made refers to an internal restructure, with Production Divisions being consolidated," reads the statement. "We have not 'shut down' our video gaming division."

Essentially, these changes simply relocate several top executives into new roles, while officially dissolving and then restructuring multiple production divisions into larger, singular departments. The staff of each dissolved division are all expected to move into roles within the new teams. Konami's restructure is effective as of February 1, 2021.

So, don't worry, Konami is still around to not make a new Silent Hill.

I agree. Would be great if Sony buys most of their IPs.
