Big Sega News Teased For This Week In Famitsu

Sega news as big as PS5 reveal? Maybe Sega is working on another console again? If Sega is not teaming up with Microsoft on Xbox Series X, maybe it's teaming up with Sony or Nintendo?

Big Sega News Teased For This Week In Famitsu

The summer is usually home to big game announcements, and some of them may be coming with or without E3.

The summer months are usually home to big video game announcements, and even without the presence of E3 this year we're still expecting plenty of them. Sega appears to be preparing something big that will debut in the Japanese magazine Famitsu, according to one of its writers.

Gematsu reports that Japanese technology journalist Zenji Nishikawa teased a "huge scoop" coming to the weekly magazine. He compared it to the scale of the PlayStation 5 exclusive that hit Wired last year, and later confirmed that it involves Sega. The announcement is said to be coming on June 4, just after the 60th anniversary of the company.

Other Japanese industry-watchers have since chimed in with some more details, mostly on what the announcement isn't. Analyst Daniel Ahmad cited a Chinese source who shot down rumors that the announcement involves Sega working with Microsoft to rebrand and launch Xbox Series X in Japan. Consultant Serkan Toto added that the tease never mentioned Microsoft, and pointed out that the journalist isn't known for being a fabulist.

June 4 may shape up to be a big day for the games industry in general. Aside from Sega's announcement, Sony has announced a PS5 reveal event for the same day. That will include the first gameplay from the next-gen console.

That sure be a waste of their money. Sega has little talent left. If Sony bought them it be for the IPs but why bother with that? Sega doesn't even make their own Sonic games.

Maybe Sega's leasing all its IPs to Sony, since Sony's most likely making a new Silent Hill anyway.

That is indeed a hardware announcement, but at least you should make it the size of GB Micro.

But people said --
Famitsu leaker says there is no Game Gear Micro article in this week's issue, so whatever Zenji Nishikawa was teasing isn't this, maybe they pulled it follow Sony's delay to PS5 conference.

Yeah... i can only see this as an impulse buy for children.

Most of these games are available on the 3DSXL, wich itself is already kind of small and unconfortable.

Imagine reading the text on shining force on that screen. XD

Sega Fog Gaming is the "big" scoop, but it seems to be something for Japan only, as there's no arcade centers anywhere else like in Japan.

I can see this being really neat as a keychain maybe. Reminds me if the Gameboy Micro which failed from what I recall.

Yeah it did. It was hard to find in retailers from what I recall. Also its was not very comfortable. I watched a few people talk about it before on YOUTUBE (collectors and what not) and they mention its good for painful involuntary cramps in your hands. For me personally its just to small of a screen.

Now if it had an slide out design like old school smart phones..

Than the screen could have been larger and and gave more real-estate for button layout while keeping its portable form factor.
