I think Darren was engaging in the fine art of hyperbole. The only type of game that's ever really taken a long time to install patches for me is MMOs, which makes sense because they keep developing them all the time after launch.

i was engaged in nothing but waiting a total of 2.45 hour to install and patch Medal of honor .. was an utter joke .. however once it was installed .. is not to bad .. played a lot worse .. and for £8 not gonna grumble about the game .. just the shit dl speed the EA servers were offerign up for the patch .. reminded me of trying to get the MGS Online demo when it first cam out ..

Ah, hadn't thought about EA's slow servers, Darren.

New game!

It's surprisingly great. You setup a profile by telling the game your weight and age. It then scans your entire body, which appears on-screen as you play. You choose fitness goals, such as weight loss or increasing tone, and it selects appropriate workouts for you. It actually knows if you are matching the virtual instructor's pose and rhythm, so it's way better than something like Wii Sports. It also calculates how many calories you've burned over time and awards Achievements for milestones.

It's not all work, though. There are also four games, all of which support 4-player alternating multiplayer.
  • Virtual Smash has you punch targets; I've always loved punching so I enjoy it.
  • Loop-a-Hoop makes you swing your hips to spin a virtual hula hoop. It's the most strenuous minigame, guaranteed to tire you quickly. You'll also look especially silly while playing!
  • Light Race is like Simon but you step on the colors with your feet. You don't actually have to memorize the patterns, but it results in higher scores.
  • Stack-Em-Up is a clever falling block game in which you hold a virtual platform in your hands, catching falling blocks, trying to stack them high without dropping them, and then dump them into holes that open in the floor. It's not too tiring and quite fun.

In short, I would say anyone who buys a Kinect and has an interest in fitness should definitely give YourShape: Fitness Evolved a purchase. It's way cheaper than a gym and you can get a serious workout with constructive feedback in the comfort of your own home.

Workouts look like this. You can choose to have your image appear in colored hues or actual colors.

Never saw the appeal of the Phantasy Star Online games. I had the original on Dreamcast and it was boring as hell, even with 3 other online players. I beat the game with them (didn't take too long). Also, it has nothing to do with Phantasy Star.

I hope Manhunt was free. Watching a youtube of all the different ways to kill someone is just as effective as playing it.

Dragon Warrior 7? Good luck Einhander. That game is flipping hard and long. I still haven't beat it.

I even have DW 3 for Gameboy!

SE Europe recently said there were no longer plans to release Dragon Quest VI in Europe despite it being originally announced. Don't know if it will see a west release afterall.

Though you could always play the Snes version in English.

Picked up a PS3 Slim 160GB on impulse from a major supermarket. Primarily as a Bluray/media player for the bedroom. But want to pick up some games soon.

To justify my decision am I correct in thinking that the PS3 kind of works out a fairly top end Bluray player due to firmware updates so it will support 3D and future Bluray enhancements?
