Physical version for PS4 is up on the kickstarter for $60.

Thankfully they listened, and now they'll get my money.

I am happy for kickstarters, but i dont like to buy games until i can have them.

Not really. I paid $60 which is about £38 which is cheaper then most PS4 games released in the UK. I don't have a problem with it.

I did the same with Senran Kagura 2 on the 3DS because there only making enough cartridges to meet demand. I'm guessing Summon Night 5 on the PSP by Gajinworks will be the same deal as well.

How is it not shady? It's a kickstarter with a very low goal compared to the development costs of the previous games. That's been a HUGE red flag for failed kickstarters.

But this is to gauge interest in the game and if there is interest, Sony will fund it.

Really? This is acceptable now? Preorders are already a bad deal for the consumer. Now we're buying games with no guarantee that it'll see the light of day.

I've never been a fan of kickstarter, even from it's inception. I've warned about the pitfalls of being a investor of a product that offers no real return for your risk. I'm worried all these fans of Shenmue are being taken advantage of.

That was cleared up btw. Sony is only helping with the PC port.

The game will not be as in depth as previous ones and previous ones had to brave old technology in the past (on both saturn and DC). The tools are more readily available nowadays. Back then open worlds werent a thing, everything had to be made from scratch. Nowadays open worlds are common.
So, as the man says, he needs 10m to make it an open world. Otherwise its gonna be something more to the style of Persona 4.

I've supported Kickstarter projects about 30 times so far and as of yet. It's all been good going.

This project will see the light of day because Sony is helping with the development costs and this is just them proving there is a demand for it. Most people that are committing to it are getting a copy of the game. So I don't see the problem.

Like I said this is far from the first. GhostLight did the same with the DS version of SMT: Devil Survivor on the DS, Marvelous EU are doing it with Senran Kagura 2 and Gajinworks did it with Class of Heroes and soon Summon Night 5. Outside of Kickstarter.

Taking the money before the games are ready so they make just enough to cover the demands and lower the risks to themselves by ending up with extra stock.

What? Sony is funding a game for a platform that's not the PS4?

The development is made from the kickstarter money. Sony only does "marketing" expenses and the development of the PC port.
Suzuki's company develops the game for PS4.

Or so they said anyways.

The original games cost a lot more mainly because they had to design them and also design the engine. This version is using Unreal 7 or whatever the fuck and it's free. Also there was that Saturn Shenmue that was a fair ways into development and that was tacked on to the original development costs. Shenmue 2 cost nowhere near as much as Shenmue 1. Sony will probably fund some of it. Just like Bloodstained already had some financial support before its Kickstarter.

But hey nobody is forcing you to donate.

Good that PS4 physical edition is not a stretched goal, but putting down $60 is still too early, I want more details.

I'll get the Blu-ray PS4 disc for sure. And who knows .. Sega want a quick buck by re-releasing the first two ; on disc or not.

I'm still waiting Yakuza 5. Still no sighting from those idiots.

It's starting to smell like Playdek's Unsung Story, which I unfortunately pledged $20.
