Spyware in games?

I'm concerned here... I love PC games and have quite a few, but I've heard that EA is putting **** like sPYWARE in their games, the bastards... can someone please confirm that no other company does this?

Alot of companies do it though a little different to each other. The spyware isnt really spyware that EA does. It just looks in yourinternet browser history and stuffs up ads of products you've seen at some stage in your countries regions, but its not ads like a huge flashing thing interrupts your gaming. ITs really harmless stuff like passing a poster on a wall of say something like Independance Day, or a bulletin board with perfume ad. In a way it makes the games sort of more lifelike. But it really screws if its a fantasy game.

They've done this in a few games. One example was SWAT 4. Anyone who has played this, did you notice the ingame ads? I certainly didnt.

I didn't notice any ads in Halo or Half life1 / hl2... so this is actually REALLY concerning me that takes away from my experience to think of that... are you saying its just EA?

I'm really scared now!
