THQ Nordic announces acquisition of multiple companies

Publisher portfolio grows ever fatter

Publishing giant THQ Nordic has announced multiple new acquisitions within the industry, adding smaller studios and investment partners to their expanding video game industry empire.

The first such acquisition is studio Milestone S.r.l. (formerly Graffiti), an Italian developer best known for their work on multiple superbike (SBK) and motocross (MotoGP) titles as well as the World Rally Championship (WRC) series. Old school fans may also remember them from the Screamer titles of the mid-'90s.

"As one of the leading companies in the racing games industry, we have assembled an experienced team and a large and growing portfolio of titles that we believe will fit perfectly with, and benefit from, THQ Nordic’s network of development studios and publishing capabilities," said Milestone CEO Luisa Bixio. "We are very happy to become part of THQ Nordic and look forward to continuing our growth journey together."

Joining Milestone under the Koch Media banner are Gunfire Games, who have worked extensively alongside THQ Nordic during the development of the popular Darksiders series, having developed the Darksiders II remaster, as well as 2018's Darksiders III.

"Having worked together on the development of Darksiders, we are confident that becoming part of THQ Nordic is a great next step for Gunfire," said studio CEO David Adams. "I believe that the experience and publishing capabilities of THQ Nordic will be important in supporting our growth journey and enabling us to continue doing what we love - making great games."

Finally, THQ Nordic have also acquired video game investment company Goodbye Kansas Game Invest. With this acquisition, THQ Nordic pick up the contracts of five early-stage development studios; Palindrome Interactive, Fall Damage, Neon Giant, Kavalri and Framebunker. As well as these, THQ Nordic secures the royalty rights for its own upcoming adventure title BioMutant.

That's a pretty successful shopping spree from THQ Nordic and Koch Media, who add the above companies to other acquired studios such as Warhorse Studios, Bugbear and Coffee Stain, along with franchises such as Alone in the Dark, Kingdom Come, Timesplitters, Saints Row, Outcast and Carmageddon, among others.

They are not an american company. It is unlikely they turn to the dark side that quickly taking into account what they've been saying. I just worry they are expanding too fast. But they are bringing more controlled costs into game development and are saving many dear franchises.

I just found out a new game they brought out today called Wreckfest, and it seems to be a spiritual sucessor of the likes of Destruction Derby and apparantly is quite good.

I didn't know they owned Outcast though. Appeal wasn't listed as one of the studios... but while being a derpy game it was quite enjoyable and i'd like to see the long rumored sequels.
Also looking forward to that Kingdoms of Amalur sequel... and another Battle chasers RPG. Nightwar was great!

They are in my good books. They also came out to say they have no plans to add lootboxes to their titles. It's the good guy european publisher. Cause Ubi soft certainly isn't having been infected by their US branch.
