DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR. The 120 was tall enough to cover the RAM as an active cooler. I'll upload a pic of my setup in a bit.

While I was building my current rig I heard terrible horror stories about the 7900 and it's overheating, instability and artifacting. I ended up getting an ati x1900xt. HOWEVER that was about 3 months ago, and the problems have probably been sorted out by now. Up until this rig I had always used nvidia cards, and I have nothing bad to say about either companys. Both make quality cards.

With my rig I skimped a bit on my processor (athlon 3400) as I new I would overclock it and drive it to the ground (though it rarely reaches 46 degrees tops now that I have it overclocked stock heatsink and fan.) I had also heard bad things about the dual cores and gaming, though they now have it mostly fixed.

All in all it looks like a sweet rig and I hope you have fun building it!

Thats weird. About 6 of my friends have this card and they've never had problems. Some of the artifacting ones though are usually the overclocked versions. They're normally from XFX, and a small handfull of other cheap brands.

I hope this dream machine doesn't turn into a nightmare. That be awful. Anyway, I did ask around about the AMD 64 x2 and 7900 at few game forums. Everyone said it was a-ok so I assume all problems have been worked out. They were even suggesting these parts to gaming PC builders. I'll know roughly by next week so here's hoping for the best.

Everything should be awesome. Don't mind me, all my research is several months old and probably not even applicable anymore.

If your case doesn't have a built in temperature monitor, I would suggest one. I got kind of a cheap one, but it's really rather nice for knowing how hot everything is really getting under load. Though there are several programs that can do somthing similar using your motherboard heat sensors, the lcd is useful.

I didn't see a mention of any speakers in the thread. Do you have some you're going to use, or have you thought about it? My MSI built in sound card is acceptable, but I just stuck in an old turtle beach santa cruz sound card and old Altec Lansing suround speakers. THOUGH I'm a huge media whore and watch alot of movies and tv shows on my computer, most people don't need anything nearly as elaborate. Just wondering what you're plan was with that.

Yeah I guess I am. At any rate I'm talking to a guy on ebay about a monitor. He is selling one sealed on ebay but he didn't provide info on what model it is. Though he is pretty sure the screen was made in June. I'm asking him to try and find out before I make a offer for I don't want to pay top dollar on something thats outdated.

Also I got a email that all my items I ordered have been sent out. Coooool! I'd be really lucky to see anything come today. But I'm honestly looking for stuff to come tomorrow or Monday.

You're gonna have to order the heatsink and fan combo. Check your local store if they have them so when you take your stuff in for them to set it up they can slap it in too.
