I would agree that Samurai X and Rurouni is a great series, but the animators didn't actually make the characters or story (save for RurouniI think), the anime was loosely based on the tale of a actual samurai that fougth in the warring states era.

The Rurouni Kenshin OAVs were awesome, but the TV series dragged on a bit (and was, overall, inferior to the OAVs, IMO).

I'm just starting the Last Exile anime, and it is looking pretty fantastic.

I have to agree, there just wasn't enough interesting between big events content that kept the TV series as good as the OVAs... in fact, if you buy the box set of the OVAs, you can get the entire premise of the TV series in the last 2 episodes of the OVA and still fell very statisfied.

As for Last Exile, the next DVD can not come out soon enough for me.

Where do you get them? Do you buy them online?

I was lucky enough to find the 1st DVD at Blockbuster. Haven't been able to find some of the others. As great as they are, I have trouble paying $33 Cdn + shipping for a few shows.

I always get mine from my local Best Buy because sometimes they'll knock down new release titles down aboug 5 dollars for a few days (which I usually pay around the 15 to 20 dollar mark) and they have all of the currently released DVDs. I have though bought a few off animenation because of the whole if you order 100+ dollars worth of merchandise you can get free standard shipping. I'd give them a look if your paying 33 dollars for just one DVD, thats out landish considering I got the first Gungrave DVD with the box and a mouse pad for that much today.

I thought the first Gungrave DVD wasn't out until later this month?

Well, $33 Cdn is $33 Canadian (not sure if you caught that). Given that Best Buy is mainly an American company (we still just have Future Shop here), I take it you're paying $15-20 US. $20 US must be pretty close to $30 Cdn (haven't been checking the exchange rates lately).

Given my tendency to watch shows just once, it's pretty tough to go out and buy DVDs.

Gearhound,

What kind of anime is "The Three Kingdoms"?

I saw a subbed $50 3 disk set Gungrave today at my import store. Is it any good? B/c I've been kicking myself for not buying it, yet I don't know if I'll like it or not.

On an unrelated note, today's episode of Yu Yu Hakusho sucked ass.

And on another unrelated note: WTF MUST A MAN DO TO GET GANTZ AROUND HERE!? :kill:

I rather wait for the ADV release ( thank God they kicked Funimation's ass out of the rights for this ) since I've read that the fansubs are brutally butchered. I've downloaded the manga, but back before it went all torrent at Omanga.

Yeah, ADV went crazy at animeexpo licensing loads of anime that hasn't even started airing in Japan yet.

Incase anyone is interested other license highlights were Midori no Hibi (Mediablasters), Jungle Guu + Deluxe (AnimeNation), Bakuretsu Angel (Funi), To Heart (Right Stuff), Gravion Zwei (ADV), Detective Loki Ragnorak (ADV), Yumeria (ADV), Gilgamesh (ADV), Nanaka 6/17 (ADV) there others aswell but mostly small ones or unaired ones.

Sweet. My local Blockbuster got Gungrave in for rent. Hopefully it's good and they'll get the rest of the series
