What?
![]() If I got the date wrong a mod must have fixed it for me because it said 2021 when I checked it this morning. Anyway went through my first one this year, Miles Morales. Really good game but holy shit is it short. Definitely felt like high quality dlc as opposed to a full priced game. Should have never cost more than 40.

Shemue 3 of ps4.
I can't say i enjoyed this one like i did Darksiders 3. Shenmue is a peculiar series. It was advanced for it's time. It gave us a sandbox and living sim when there weren't any. It was groundbreaking. But, nowadays we live in a world saturated with open worlds. Shenmue 3 does what Shenmue did, with obviously the pains of an indie team and not having the resources SEGA had. It's Shemue, it feels like Shenmue, but the question is... did we really want more of this? I'd like to say yes and i played through it. I got the Shenmue feel again, but i also got the feel of boredom. There was something that wasn't in previous games which is a survival style hunger meter that depletes your hp constantly. That was the worst decision they could have made for the game cause now instead of relaxing in a sandbox, you are stressing in a sandbox. The story hardly advanced as well. My conclusion is thus: I don't want more Shenmue, unless it can look and play in the level of a yakuza game. Sega could make that game with Yu, if they wanted. The yakuza team could definitly make it work. Shenmue still has it's appeal in setting and focus on a martial arts world and a classic drama. This drama was already told many times since Shenmue began and rather than in the forefront of gaming it is now a carcass being dragged along. It's sad. This series deserved to have been concluded 15 year ago. Now, only a complete redesign can save it. In more objective terms, it is a mediocre game at every level, really only acceptable cause it's an indy game, but it certainly doesn't live up to it's legacy. Without the Sega support it's a shell of itself and it's better to finish the tale on another medium than drag it along like this. I really must point out that by now the game's story repeats itself with each location since shenmue 1. Look for a person, look for a band of bandits, get your ass kicked by their leader, go find a master to teach you something. Beat the leader, advance the story a little bit and start over in a new location. Literally that plot twice in this game. I am sad to give these impressions, but i really was happy to get rid of this game. If it was something else i wouldn't have finished, but i wanted to see it through to the "end". In the meanwhile i deleted Judgement cause it bored me. Cool combat though. How i wish i could've ripped it into shenmue.

Beat lost dimension, my second to last vita game.
It was meh, is the best way to describe it. It didn't excel in any way, and it wasn't bad enough to just throw out. There was potemcial there but, it was not tapped.

Utawarerumono prelude to the fallen.
So, this one has a story. Most have never paid atention to this game. On ps3, there was some sale and i saw this chibi strategy jrpg called tears to tiara 2. It was dirty cheap and i tried it. It was a mix of visual novel and strategy rpg (nothing amazing, just serviceable). It starred the same voice actor that does kirito in SAO and i ended up surprised with an engrossing game with very good story and character and especially long. Maybe a bit too long actually. But, i liked it and took note of the developer. I later found out they made this series too. Utawaterumono and prelude is the latest title in the series but it's a remaster of the first game in the series. I waited for it before playing the later two. But, i can say this one is a bit appauling at times. It drops plot lines suddenly. I am hoping it's cause this one is older. The game felt streched again, but it was shorter. In the end it had interesting revelations that now make me interested in seeing the sequels. But, i can't say i recommend this one. It was filled with cliches and the aforementions ways the story plots are dropped without closure can be appauling. I would not play it again, but these games are story games and there really isn't a reason to play them more than once. Oh and side note, this was my last vita game. It was a troubled system. Persona 4 golden was the standout, but overall, it didn't have a lot of amazing games. I guess Uncharted golden abyss was a standout too. Wipeout 2048 was cool too. It's a shame Sony dropped the system like they did.

Beat Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider over the last couple of months. Great games, although I thought the storyline could have been better, both were just kinda silly. Gameplay was better in Rise, but the graphics and exploration stole the show in Shadow.

I agree with that. I played the Tomb raider reboot and rise and while they were "fine" i couldn't bring myself to care.
I liked the stylish and cocky Lara croft. The new one is bland. Anyways, i beat Utawarerumono Mask of deception on the Vita. I had the ps4 version but after playing a bit, it's just better enjoyed on the Vita with headphones since the music is an important part of the imersion and i hardly noticed it in the ps4 version. But, to the game itself, my investment paid off. Prelude was rough because it was basically an old game. Mask of deception had much better storytelling and many pay-off moments for those that played prelude, which made it more enjoyable. This is the aquaplus from the tears to teara 2 i enjoyed. It gripped me, even though there were some short bouts of filler, usually stuff about cooking or drinking, the pace of the story was good and the anime intro was gorgeous. The gameplay itself was odd though. They tried a new spin on the srpg formula but it was oddly balanced with units one shotting each other quite easily. Anyways, i already advanced to mask of truth. I am excited to see where the story goes. Oh i recently found out these games (mask of deception and truth) were pulled from psn earlier this year. They can only be aquired physically now. For anyone intrigued, get them while you can as they will become rarities.

Beat The Touryst. Games like this are the best thing about gamepass. I enjoyed playing it but it was so short I would have been disappointed if I paid full price for it.

Finally finished Utawarerumono Mask of truth on the vita.
In short, it was good. Very fitting conclusion. Good story, improved srpg with some more depth and better balance compared to deception. I enjoyed this trilogy (duology really cause deception is the first act of the whole "mask of" story). Honestly, i wish it just had actual 3D models with animation for the story, but it's a small studio and all things considered it's ok. Alternatively, i wish it had more anime scenes. The anime intros for these games are gorgeous. Deception in particular was amazing. The music, the snow effects and clouds were really nice. These are definitly just as good if not better than the "Tales of" ones.
