Geforce 9800 GTX

You know I dont think anyone actually posted the specs for this card. Maybe they did and I missed it so here goes anyway.

Quote:
1. By Q4 2007 (Xmas) NVIDIA will be releasing their GeForce 9800 series GPUs.
Unlike previously expected the codename for nVidia's next generation GPU will NOT be "G90" but instead be "G92".

I have some info form NVIDIA insider about the upcoming G92 graphics processors.

G92 will be released in November 2007 timeframe in the form of "GeForce 9800" series.

"G92" GeForce 9800 GTX specs.

- 65nm process technology at TSMC.
- Over one billion transistors.
- Second Generation Unified Shader Architecture.
- Double precsion support (FP64).
- GPGPU native.
- Over one TeraFLOPS of shader processing power.
- MADD+ADD configuration for the shader untis (2+1 FLOPS=3 FLOPS per ALU)
- Fully Scalar design.
- 512-bit memory interface.
- 1024MB GDDR4 graphics memory.
- DirectX 10.1 support.
- OpenGL 3.0 Support.
- eDRAM die for "FREE 4xAA".
- built in Audio Chip.
- built in tesselation unit (in the graphics core"
- Improved AA and AF quality levels

Pros.

65nm process will allow for better yields and better power consumption. power consumption will be lower than that of a GeForce 8800 GTX.

GeForce 9800 GTX will be over two times faster than a GeForce 8800 Ultra in real world games and applcations.

Release date : November 2007. There will be TWO products at launch: The flagship GeForce 9800 GTX and the second fastest GeForce 9800 GTS.

price for the GeForce 9800 GTX will be 549-649 USD.

price for the GeForce 9800 GTS will be 399-449 USD.

BOOM BABY. I have enough time to save up and get the GTS version. Will I finally be able to play SupCom at 60beatiful frames per second? Only time will tell.

I play it that way with an 8800GTS. And I was mentioning this card in a few threads I should have put up the specs.

But the friendly PC aussie beat me to it.

Most awesome. I should get the same results with these cards but my real intrest is seeing how many frames I keep while recording with fraps.

Hahah well, thats only cause FRAPS is software based. As such, using FRAPS to record while playing a game will drop the frame rate 10-20 a second. If I could I'd get a hardware based card to record my single with but there is no such hardware around.

I'm more wondering about the power requirements. I really don't want to buy a card that needs like 300 watts of power for each card.

It's power requirements will be less than a 8800 - supposedly.

These specs haven't been officially confirmed yet - we'll just have to wait and see. I would have expected the price in particular to have been greater for something that outperforms a 8800 by two times.

I disagree, they have been complaining about how expensive PC gaming is. Maybe they are getting wise to their own complaints.

I hope it's less than the 8800s, the more watts those things need, the more fans and cooling you need to make sure it doesn't melt and plus my power bill! If it truely is better than the 8800s and less power requirements, I'm sold.

I used to be a ATI guy, but after seeing how crappy the 2000 series are, bleh, I was going to buy a 8800GTS but I think I will wait for this now.

at least you're not using a X700 AGP card! IT FUCKING SUCKS! at least I paid only 80 bucks for it after a few months it's been out, reg price for it at the store I got it from was 299.99, STILL NOT WORTH IT FOR THAT PRICE! I should have just kept my 9600 Pro, I didn't get much difference with the X700 compared to it other than like 5 fps and it made my computer really hot enough that it destoryed the power supply and warped some fans enough to break them....................... I hated the card so much I put back the old 9600 pro and SMASHED THE X700 with a club! GRAHHHHHHHHHHH!

This christmas I'm going to build my new computer, mine was brand new tech for like 5 mins when I bought it... then PCI-E came out and SATA HDDs! SCREW YOU COMPUTER COMPANIES!
