First PS5-ready TVs revealed by Sony, with up to 8K gaming

It looks like you need to get a new HDMI 2.1 Cable in order to support 4K @ 120Hz refresh rates, and your TV needs to support it as well.

Sony Reveals Two PS5-Ready TVs

Sony announces two TVs that will reportedly be taking advantage of the PlayStation 5's new technology, and are available to purchase now.

Sony has just announced two TVs that are a part of the new "Ready for Playstation 5" designation, offering game-ready models and features that will support the PlayStation 5 at launch later this year. The PS5-friendly designation is being applied to one 4K model line and one 8K model, and will have features tailored specifically to the new console's high-resolution, high frame rate gaming and next-gen capabilities.

The first model is the Sony Bravia X900H, a 4K Android TV that starts at $999 for the 55-inch model, but is also available in larger sizes: 65, 75, and 85-inch sizes, with prices going all the way up to $2,799 for the biggest model. It is an LED smart TV that features full array backlighting, a 4K resolution, and even a 120Hz refresh rate, perfect for gaming. In addition, the model has excellent HDR support and a local-dimming backlight. Sony also noted the model's low lag time, stating that its input lag was a short as 7.2 milliseconds.

The second model, the Sony Z8H, is an 8K LED Smart TV. It is available in 75- and 85-inch sizes, and sells for $6,999 and $9,999, respectively. It will also offer all of the same features as the Z800H, with advanced sound features and the same 120Hz refresh rate as well as the low lag time.

Both models hold support for next-generation gaming features, including being able to automatically switch to game mode and allowing the user to turn on both the TV and PS5 console with Sony's new DualSense controller. In addition, the televisions will switch to game mode automatically without the user needing to manually switch between inputs.

The models also support various refresh rates, allowing the TV to synchronize with the console's output, which should help limit any sort of screen tearing and make for a generally better gaming experience. Both the X900H and the Z8H also come included with Sony's brand new Acoustic Surface Audio technology, which apparently use speakers that are installed within the TV's frame and provide sound coming straight from the screen, and track across it with the video. This goes along with Sony's claim of the PS5 having vastly improved audio, and should make for a more immersive experience, for both movies and games.

This isn't the first time that Sony has made its televisions with the PlayStation brand in mind, and likely isn't the last. The televisions are both available now, and will be compatible with the PS5.

Honestly... this is all BS from an industry that couldn't even deliver 1080p at 60 fps this gen.
Deliver that first, deliver 4k 60 fps and then maybe we can entertain more.

I love my X900H.

Also, if you're going to buy a new HDMI cable...don't search for 'HDMI 2.1,' search for '48Gbps' instead.

Games I'm hyped for
The Last of Us Part 2, RE2 Remake, The Last Night

Current Platforms:
PC (i7-7700K, 16GB, GTX 980Ti), Wii U, PS4

8K 120fps gaming from a console. HAHA try that, PC users. You guys probably can't even manage a pathetic and unwatchable 6K at 90fps. What losers! LOL! Consoles win again!
