Hmm. I've been looking at FPS like DOOM 3, Far Cry, Painkiller, FEAR etc. to see what there is for single player mods, and things look pretty sparse. Only D3 looks like it has a worth sp mod of any ambition. I understand HL2 has a few, but what else is there? Trying to decide on what kind of computer I'm going to get and what I'll get out of it.

To be fair FPS games dont really have that many mods. And the mods that are out there for them are technically new halfbreed games of the original. You'll find most mods centre around space sims and rpgs. And some RTS games.

Every FPS should have a "Goldeneye" mod. A simple Mod that has every cheat found in Goldeneye. I don't care if your playing AvP2. There should be a Golden gun cheat. 1 shot, 1 KILL!

Star Trek DS9 The Fallen : Convergence.

Its an add-on mission created for the original game. So basically think of it as a free mini mission game. If you have the game, grab the mod.

Also here is an interview with the makers.

Day of Defeat: Source! FarCry! Yeah and basically all of the HL:2 MODs, are full seperate games that dont require HL2. Like CS source etc. those are fine choices! But not much else for other games that arent on steam... games that aren't on steam are great, but theres no good mods for them thats all im saying.

:annoyed:

HL2 Surce mod. Its hit beta 2.0 and seems playable now. Lots of running and shooting plus space flight combat.

You know I been reading up on this mod and its said to be incredible. Completely designed for team work and well planned play. I do think I'm going to DL it and try it out. Vegetto, you should as well.

I am curious about one thing though. You know how you can DL BF2 off a torrent but can't play it online? Would it be possible to DL BF2 Torrent, DL and install this mod, and then play online from the Mod's servers? If so then I say everyone who can run it should DL now.
