FFXI help.

Ok i just got FFXI today and it took me like 2 hours to install it and all and so i get ready and i click play and it says it cant run it something like TnL. So i go to their website and it says u need a GeForce 64mb video card. Well i dont have my own computer yet so this crapy one has some Intel crap on it(but its also 64 mb). i know this is a stupid question to ask but hey it doesnt hurt to ask, so i was wondering is there anyway to make my computer think it has a GeForce video card or even better make it run FFXI? Thanks for the help in advance.

There isnt much you can do. The game requres the TnL (Transform and Lighting) feature that comes with all Geforce cards since the GF2, I think. ITs a hardware thing, so Im sorry to say that no, thres no emulator or "trick" to fool the game into thinking you can run it, just like theres no way you can run a car without gas even if you "fool" the tank into thinking its full by filling it with water. ;)

Low range Geforce cards are DIRT cheap, however. You can buy a Geforce 2 MX for like 25 bucks. For about 50 you can get an FX 5200 with 128MB which is already closer to the side of something halfway decent. Check www.pricewatch.com.

Those sell for abuot 50 bucks, spiff. They are basically hyped-up GF2 cards. But good enough for most stuff on low detail.

I thought you would have paid something like that. And to think for about $50 more you could have bought and ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, a very very good card. Some actually prefer it over the 9800...

It has nothing to do with Nvidia vs ATI. They are like Chevy and Ford. Its just that the 5200 is crap, and was made to be cheap, not as a competitor to the 9600. The 5600 is Nvidias Equivilent to the 9600. You could have bought a 5600 for around the same price as a 9600. While benchmarks show that the 9600 is better than the 5600, the 5600 is still much better than the 5200. By the way, is it and ultra version?
