I have a Dell Dimension 8200(desktop), P4 2.4Ghz PC and i would like to know if it's possible to upgrade my Pentium chip to upgrade the speed to 3.0Ghz(anything close to that or more)

Thats a tricky one. I've searched on the net and found 2 versions of the 8200, lord knows how. The import info I'd need is what motherboard is inside. That'll tell you. The official site of the boards maker will have the info.

Thats why its always best to build your own Pc, or at least buy the components and have someone assemble it for you. That way you know whats in the box. ;)

Another thing you could try to do is simply download SiSoft Sandra and make it run a hardware check on yuor system. It should give you a detailed lowdown on what components you have. Once you know what mobo you have you jsut need to check the model online to see what max. processer you can install.

The whole thing shouldnt take you more than 10 mins to do. Once you knwo what you ahve and want, you can turn the PC over to a shop and have them upgrade the CPU.
