THQ on the mend; no more staff cuts

Quote:
Former Naughty Dog co-founder and newly-appointed president of THQ Jason Rubin has said the firm will not be making any more staff cuts.

The publisher faced a turbulent start to 2012, with financial woes that led to significant job cuts, but Rubin says that the layoffs will cease.
"We have the appropriate number of teams and the appropriate number of people working on products, and we're not gonna be continuing to cut teams," Rubin told Joysiq. "But as far as product goes, I think we'll have to find out exactly where that's going."

On the topic of assessing the firm's product line-up, Rubin reaffirmed that Guillermo del Toro's 'Insane' trilogy is currently "still in the slate," but stopped short of actually confirming it will be released.

THQ will be "a different company" in the next year or two, he added. "I'm taking every project as clay, a clay statue that's been built. It's not nearly been completed. It can be augmented, it can be shrunk, it can be changed. Everything is up for change to make the best possible product that could be."

Insane isn't the only game with a question mark on its head. "I'm well aware of the other projects that are kind of in what you would call 'nebulous states' (though internally they may not be so nebulous)," Rubin went on.

"I have to go around and look at everything over the next few weeks, next month, and I have to then decide which of the titles are the titles we're gonna focus on based on what I believe our future should be."

Look what happens when you have a competent head. THQ has some great stuff, Relic alone makes the publisher awesome, it's whatever retards thought to invest millions in the uDraw that made it come crashing down so hard. Glad to see they're gone.

Now that they have someone with a brain in charge you watch them become huge. I hope he kicks relic into making homeworld 3.

He left before Uncharted was released.

THQ announced during an investor’s call that they pulled the plug on inSANE, a horror game series from Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro.

inSANE was revealed during the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards and later announced to be a trilogy of games. The project was handed to Saints Row developer Volition, but since the project was canceled rights to inSANE were handed back to del Toro. This is similar to what happened with Devil’s Third, which was given back to Valhalla Game Studios after THQ dropped the title.
Considering it's been two years and we still don't really know anything about it. Guess it isn't a huge surprise.

If it's any good it should find a home somewhere else.
