After all is said and done, I think you're right. Either Vanillaware or Xseed must believe the game won't sell well in the US. If they didn't, they would have done what was necessary to get it released. With the PSP steadily slipping into PSV's shadow's, I'm not sure if getting GKH published in the US would be a financially sound move. I wonder if maybe it'll be localized for the PSV later? It might be more cost effective to release this game as a digital download later on.

I'll cross mah fingers...

Maybe but Atlus are still releasing Gungrir and Growlanser IV on the PSP I think it's just one of those things.
Dragon's Crown was meant to be out ages ago and has had some major delays so Vanillaware must be having some trouble with it and it's just taking up all there time to get it out in Japan in the end that market will always be most important to them.

Vanillaware didn't cancel Rising Star's release in Europe.

XSeed could have gotten another programmer to do it. They canceled it out of pissiness and sour grapes. And now no one gets it because of their selfishness.

Well, I'm pretty bummed the game won't be getting its US localization (or the EU), but I'm not sure if it's fair to completely blame Xseed for the failure of a stateside release. From the sounds of it, Vanillaware may have given publishers the impression that programming support would be available once the translation was done. Seems that Vanillaware underestimated the meals on their plate, and kept delaying programmer availability...meanwhile, Xseed and Rising Star kept checkin' in on their pocket books and realize the project would not bring in enough revenue just to break even.

Sure, they could have gotten their own programmers...but they didn't. This leads me to believe that they either did not have Vanillaware's permission to mess with their IP...or that they did the math and figured it would not be profitable.

I'm just as disappointed as anyone else who was looking forward GKH...but I don't blame Xseed for letting this one go if it ultimately meant financial harm to their company. Besides, Xseed is suppose to be localizing Last Story for the Wii this summer...so at least I still have that to look forward to. And sure, I could take the cynical view of, "Watch, they're gonna fuck that up too!"...but, I'd rather not raise my blood pressure just yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope they have better luck with Square-Enix.

Well, thats a shame... One of the few games that I was still looking forward too. Hopefully somebody releases it later on another console.
