A MMO Expansion for the best game of 2010?
Guys, I think we need to schedule an intervention for Darren, I'm concerned.

.. must have sunk at least 100hours into it since it dropped a week ago, it may be an expansion but theres more new content in it that most new games .. which is sad issue with most games these days .. but seriously great fun with my buddies , and they have jaked the dungoen/raid difficulty right up which is great ..

I avoid MMO's like the plague. I watched a video game addiction program on Panorama, I think games should be like great books or movies that you can't put down. In other words FIANITE! A friend of mine clocked up 76 days of play on Warcraft. That is wrong IMO.

i saw that program and thought what a bunch of retards.. be it wow, cod or what ever tbh ..
for me i don't see the difference in playing one game for 76 days, and 76 games over 76 days? nothing tbh, its still the same amount of time playing videogames be it healthy or not .. .. the game is a massive time sync thats for sure tho, on the plus side its saves money not having time for other games ..lol

I'm not too sure what I played this year that actually came out this year.
The only games I can think of are: Ace Attorney Investigations Final Fantasy 13 Monster Hunter 3 Out of those three MH3 is easily the best game this year, and the best game I've played in years. AAI was fantastic and if not for the last case dragging on like it did could have been my favorite in the series. FF13 was also great and is one of my top favorites in the series. |

I guess you are right. But gaming is compulsive... I tend to finish a game and then have a week or 2 off. Things like Wow or even Farmville are addictive, but no more addictive than a great book or a great boxset! Its about personal regulation. Also these parents that allow their kids to play for 16/17 hours a day are mental!!! Gaming as an addiction? I still don’t buy it. The same way I don’t buy kids who are disruptive as having attention deficit disorder or fat people having genetic issues. It can be considered addictive in that it is enjoyable and people want to do enjoyable things, but where does it end? Are holidays addictive too? Sports? Sex? Money? Yes we all want these things and to do enjoyable things, but let’s not try to create an excuse for those who are not tuned into the real world. The real world is hard and tough and if people want to shy away from such things as work that is their issue. Children who are addictive ones (as claimed) simply need better parenting. When a child plays video games on end then there always seems to be a scapegoat; developer, their genes, society. Never lazy parents. We all dip into things a little on the heavy side sometimes...
***Apologies this is off topic***

MMOs and other games are no different. You can get addicted to wow just like you can get addicted to cod or counterstrike etc. If you're brain is stupid you wont log out of your favourite game. I'm pretty sure majority of us here have will power and self control and some intelligence, bar joe. Play an mmo grant, you'll enjoy it.
I havent played enough of the games I wanted to this year to even try to make a list. of best games. But I doubt anything came out this year that was as good as Witcher, so I'll just shove that one down again. |

Couldn't resist a list.
1.Mass Effect 2 2.Bayonetta 3.Red Dead Redemption 4.Deadly Premonition 5.F1 2010 AC Brotherhood would no doubt be up there based on how much I loved the second one but I've yet to get round to it. Also Fallout NV might be up there but im only 30 hrs in and it's a bit too buggy...even for a Obsidian/Bethesda game. |

Haven't played much this year, but, I did have shit tons of fun while playing Galaxy 2.
Other than that, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (although I didn't finish it) and Monster Hunter Tri (doesn't really count as I imported it last year) were pretty OK too.
