Kinect Games That Don't Suck
The Kinect launch line-up looks like a complete mainstreamer pile of shovelware dung, but 2011 actually looks really good.
Child of Eden Project Draco (really geeked for this one) Rise of Nightmares Haunt Codename D Steel Batallion: Heavy Armor

No doubt that every publisher out there for the motion controlled market is looking only duplicating the sales performance of Wii Sports, Just Dance, and Wii Fit. Hopefully, if there is success of alternative titles, that will encourage more amibitious projects for Kinect.

The only one that showed what it was like to actually play the game was child of Eden and that was laden with lag. I have a feeling that those who pass on Kinect will be the happy ones in the long run.

The main problem is that the Kinect isn't precise enough to do this stuff reliably. Everyone I know who has played Kinect thus far says the same thing, it was fun, but tiring, and in the end I couldn't play the same game twice doing exactly the same thing and have the same experience.
Apparently Child of Eden plays WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better with a controller than it does with Kinect. So I will play it, and probably everything else on that list that way.

I look at add-ons differently than most people, as I look at the big picture. Most people consider the Sega CD and 32X failures. They are add-ons though and without a Genesis, they are just chunks of plastic and electronics that can't play anything. With a Genesis/Sega CD/32X combo though, you have access to a large library of games and one hell of an awesome gaming system. Hardcore gamers will sometimes buy a system just to play one or two games and be happy. All I need is a handfull of good Kinect games and I'll be happy.
As for Microsoft trying to sell to the mainstream non-gaming public or younger gamers, good luck. Every time they try to go outside the core gaming audience, they seem to fail.

Kinect is an odd thing. I remember when the Wii was first revealed and no one in the gaming community wanted one, and it was successful regardless.
Only time will tell with something like this. 1 killer app and there could be one in every house. I haven't seen that killer app yet, mostly because Kinect itself doesn't work terribly well.

So...remember all that stuff I said about kinect not being precise?
http://www.giantbomb.com/chat/ They seemed to have fixed that. Like...all of it. I'm actually sort of impressed.

Yeah.
It looks like it works about 85% of the time, and a lot of it depends on the game being played. Kinect Adventures looked to work flawlessly, Kinectimals worked really really well, about 75% of the stuff in Kinect Sports worked well and fighters uncaged or whatever that game was, looked really really responsive. But all the ubisoft games except for their exercise game (which actually looks quite good) were terrible and incredibly non-responsive. To be fair, the tech is cool and if people can get it to work more reliably, it could be interesting. The facial recognition is pretty amazing, and the vocal stuff is cool, but it needs to be snappier. Kinect makes everything take about 5 times as long as it would with a controller unless you make the controlls snappy. The hover and hold stuff is terrible, but the Konami stuff where it's left arm up for yes, right up arm for no was really quick. It's like they said on that stream, the first time it works, it's magical. The first time it doesn't work, the whole thing is a piece of shit.

on the child of eden clip, kinda looked like your hands would obscure the screen at times. i'd rather have a controller in my hands down low.
