GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB vs. GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB

Theres alot of people who look at the differences in ram and price of the exact cards and usually wonder what they would be missing if they went with the cheaper version, or what they'd gain if they went with the more expensive more ram version. This page not only has alot of benchmarks for different kinds of games, but also alot of other video cards for you to compare them to. I think the 320mb version goes for around $270-280, and the 640mb version goes for somewhere in the region of $370.

Its a fairly big jump really for almost double the ram. As the graphs show some games show a big jump from anywhere from 10-15fps. Most though show little performance bonus, possibly 2-5fps. I guess you need to look at which game engines you're interested in and what you play alot of. The bumber in the middle of the bars is the average framerate, second number is max. The important number here is obviously the middle one.

There was another site with a performance comparison but I cant recall where it was, so heres another one.

Still to much money. $300 shouldn't be the price for a 2nd place card. Besides, no actual DX10 games to try these one yet.

You might think its second place, but it only has about 2 cards infront of it and about 20 behind it.
