New 360 console repair policy at 1-800-4my-xbox

If your console was manufactured before January 1'st 06 you can get it fixed for free right now. I just called them after reading a rumor on a clan forum I go to and it's true. My shipping box will be here in about 4 days and all for free. So if yours died like mine and you got it last year now is your chance to get it fixed free of charge.

They must have been under great pressure from consumers. It's isn't the consumers fault they purchased shoddy machines.
It must be a huge sigh of relief for you though. I remember you saying you weren't going to pay the money Microsoft wanted for repairs.

Yeah and I stuck by it too. I love my 360 but it's been sitting idle for a couple weeks. This is a godsend for me though. I do love my 360 I just don't want to tack another 140 bucks to the sticker price. I will pay for an extended warrenty when I get it back though.

For clarification this is for xbox 360. Also this isn't indefinite. What it does is extend the warranty for the 360's made before 1/1/06 to a full year.

Also if you paid to have your console repaired earlier and it was built before last new years you can get a full refund on repair costs.

The phone number is not new but the policy is. If I recall correctly this was the number I called to cancel my Xbox (original) Live account.

Sweet. My box came yesterday and I packed it up and had UPS pick it up today. I figure it will be there by tuesday and fixed in about a week and back in three business days so if I'm lucky I should get it back on say.... October, Friday the 13...yeah, that's a good omen.
