Oh thats freaky. I thought volleyball would have gotten way more sales. Hmm...I wonder if UK also includes Europe. If it does then it looks like the US crowd are more easily swayed by hype and advertisement. Still.. it doesn't look right.
I picked 2 of the top 3 though! I got Project gotham and DoA3 switched round. That sort of surprised me. |

halo, pgr and doa3 confirmed million seller from press releases
KOTOR confirmed as million seller from interview splinter cell confirmed as milion seller from ubisoft press release pgr2 and doao probably won't make it to million seller though, sales have been slow so far for PGR2 doao will be seen as a remake for most i think, and thus would not enjoy massive sales halo 2, now thats a different story, at least going by current buzz i expect it to be bigger than halo 1 -aneep- |

For a confirmed million seller, its still over 50k short of that sales mark.

Pretty outlandish I agree. Someone must have their numbers wrong somewhere.

BTW, Ghost Recon is over 500,000.
Usually, the only games that stand to pass 1 million on the Xbox are the exclusive titles. Splinter Cell is a notable exception, but that was a time exclusive. For all other 3rd party games released at the same time, the three consoles fragment the sales. The publishers certainly don't complain about that though...even average games like Ty The Tasmanian Tiger can move huge numbers across three platforms. Technically, JGRF and Sega GT are million sellers that were part of a bundle last year. Tetris Worlds and Star Wars Clone wars are also likely to hit that mark as well because of the bundle. Since they didn't sell that well on their own, I suppose you could say they are a million plus units in homes instead of selling at retail. |

heh, and that list was confirmed counting each unit sold? (i have no idea where the number came from, rebeus care to share the source?)
take for example, the current npd sales tracks only about 50% of sales in US, since a number of retailers have declined participation (it was just wal mart last year IIRC) what they have, they extrapolate to cover the rest of the market so for a game that has sold that much, 50k is pretty small amount, could cover that from sales in asia alone (which is smaller than US, and EU market) splinter cell sold a million well before the ps2 version was released IIRC (it sold almost a mil in us alone by the end of 2002) yeah technically there are more than 2 million copies of jsrf and sega gt since ms sold more than 2 mil of that bundle (don't have the latest figure for the bundle, but if ms continue the bundle till mid 2003, 3 million is not impossible) ty sold over 1 mil according to the dev, although it did pretty weak in US (u would never have guessed it by looking at US sales) kinda proves multiplatform strategy works -aneep- |

just want to add another one
GTA DP, going by Nov sales, will be a million seller in Dec (where sales typically higher than Nov) or Jan (when the game is released in europe) -aneep- |

GTA DP? A million seller? Hmmm... not likely yet...
Possibly by March/April 2004... But I'd be very surprised if it was by late December. The fact that the first game has been out for PS2 for over two years has really eaten into it's sales...

almost 400k in US in Nov., going by last year sales of top titles (except Metroid Prime), Dec. sales could go up to 2x of Nov. sales
or Jan. when the game already top the xbox chart (UK) at release heh, we'll see i guess (i'm just guesstimating after all, not betting money on it), when the sales data for Dec (NPD) or ELSPA for UK is released -aneep- |
