I've noticed that to. The game I have noticed it on is a boss battle with Wario or Super Wario the one where you crawl inside a nose and chop nose hairs and what appears to be crusty boogers that resemble boulders. At the end when you have to control Wario on the wave of water(snot?) I always seem to lose.
