Do you know how dirt cheap those parts would cost? Cheaper then a console. The thing is DirectX is an easy tool for programmers to work with, and since theres only 2 main vendors out there, ATI and nVidia, I'm pretty sure you can figure out they have no problem working with it. They've been at it for many years. Programming for the PC is like sleeping. Its very easy. And you'll find console developers are equally limited by the kits Sony or anyone else release for them to try and work with. DX is alot more flexible and also has more features. Plus you can make the PC games run how you want them to by tweaking windows so it takes less resources, and also playing with the games graphic settings, which in turn gives you far more power to work with.
