Heh, Bruce Lee 2.0... *snicker* I hope that's the version number..

Such a disgrace to the name too...

This title outsold Eternal Darkness in NA for a month, a couple of months back??

Ridiculous..

That tells you some things..

Either.. more people are willing to purchase (Though the Bruce Lee moniker prolly had some influence on this) this "game" on the Xbox vs. a great game on teh G4mecub3..

or

A lot of people that bought the Xbox really can't tell a good game from a bad one.. or they just don't read the reviews when they SHOULD. (Though, the opposite could be said.. about Eternal Darkness lack of sales for that month... but some would gladly chalk it up to "demographics")

Eh. This type of thing only encourages more weak games...

I think it only out-sold ED the month it was released. Serves them right Now they are the owners of a crappy game.

Thats BS, GBA shouldn't even deserved to win any GOM award.

Wow, someone sounds grumpy today. And what kinda logic is that? GBA has games just like the other guy's. Of course it qualifies. And don't forget the original team from SoTN was behind this game.

EGM editors do not always give decent scores to good games, COMPANIES PAID THEM FOR GOOD SCORES!

Also, what was the score for Buffy the vampire Slayer? I saw the game at EB, and it is not very playable to me....

Thats a freaky list. Given the amount of games for each console, Gamecube scores out pretty well with amjority getting 9's. Quality not quantity? I think so. It's like the dreamcast all over again.

Now that they are done with HArmony of Dissonance, maybe they can make a next-gen platform Casltevania game! :p

Don't take EGM too seriously. They're sellouts; companies pay them to get good reviews.

And that Tekken4 review is just stupid. How could a game that recieve high 30's in famitsu get 6-7's here? Either these guys are morons, or they like going against the general concensus. I'm saying morons.

I think EGM also take in the factor whether there are any originality in the game. Games usually get a much lower score if it is pretty much the same as the previous one. I remember Capcom got really pissed off when they rated Super Street Fighter 2 for SNES 6/10, because the review made a big negative impact in the game sales.

Maybe they just dont like Tekken, a lot of people dont.

Nothing really surprising score wise, except for Tekken.

[edit]

Oh, and Famitsu is no more accurate in their reviews than EGM is (that's a knock on Famitus, not praise for EGM ;))

Msot reviewers are sellouts or biased in one way or the other. I trust reviewers (even famitsu) about as much as I can throw them.

Reviews are best to let you decide wether the title is worth checking out or not. You can give it a try in the shop, or rent it over the weekend, and then decide if its worth buying.

Or, another good way of judging a game is reader reviews on sites like Gamespot. When you have 1000 reader reviews and an average score of 9, then you know the game has to be worth something more than hype.

yeah what Seska said is the best way to evaluate a game other than trying it out for your self

ask around in a forum, have they played this game, what do they think about it, what's its good and bad points, etc etc

This is also biased, you can't stop a person to submit a score of 10/10 to Gamespot like 100 times to push up the rating.

But you can check the actual written review and see what the person though of the game. I usually check gamerankings.com if I'm interested in a game, then read the user reviews at gamefaqs and gamespot. Of course, sometimes you know you'll love a game despite the crappy reviews it receives :) King's Field is probably my fave PS2 game, and I dont think I've ever seen a "professional" review that was positive.

I don't follow those scores .not even use them as an additional ..if the game "feels" good i'll play it no matter what ..
Like Gungrave i'm not quit happy with the scores they gave it but i had a good "feeling" about the game so a few days ago i've played it and i enjoy the game alot it was like playing some sort of Contra game! It was great, And i was happy i didn't listen to
THEM! I hope alot of people doesn't pay attention to the scores or rates that other people give games I mean in the end it's your personal taste (something THEY don't know) that matters and not theirs!
So if you want to play it, i say: rent it or play it before you buy it and see if you like it or not!
