Announcement went out today. http://www.teamxbox.com
on front page.

Good news! Now this is a way to handle pc ports, to deliver as close as possible conversion for the consoles.

Not only will the Xbox version support Xbox Live, but it will blow away the PS2 version. It also sounds like there might even be some enhancements over the PC version.

Of course the Xbox version will be better then the PS2 version. The Xbox is easier for porting PC games then PS2. Look at Max Payne. And I also read that the PS2 version will take about a year to port, whereas the Xbox version will take 6 weeks, or something.

Are you sure only 6 weeks? That sounds extremely unlikely, as the QA process on any given game is usually at least a month to two, particularly on Console games, as unlike PC ones you cant release a patch post-release that will fix bugs that you have missed.

Yeah, it does sound a little extreme. But I remember it being 6 something. I'm almost certain that it wasn't 6 months. And I'm certain about the PS2 time. I'll see if I can find any thing about it. Hold on.

The strait port of the Xbox version did only take 6 weeks. Now Nerve(the company doing the port for Id) is in the process of optimizing it for the Xbox hardware and will add system link and Xbox Live support. Nerve did the multi-player stuff for Id on the PC version.
