Yep that's true games like Getaway, Primal, Ghost Hunter, TIF, Destruction Derby aren't gonna sell. . . though it seems likely the Getaway will sell pretty well if Grand Theft Auto is anything to go by.

I find it rather funny that Pokemon (while being owned by Nintendo) is listed seperately from them.

No it shows they make games mainly for the USA/EU unlike Nintendo who don't. :)

Sony publishes titles in all territories, not just the US. They simply don't publish the larger selling titles. The best title they ever had published was Final Fantasy VII. Aside from that, they generally publish crap. Sony makes more Japanese styled games, however. There is difference between making something and publishing it. Sony's published titles are generally lesser known and don't have as strong selling power as those of other companies. While some may be good, things like Mark of Kri aren't going to compete with Final Fantasy, Zelda, Madden, and so forth.

Yes but alot of them including Mark Of Kri aren't released in Japan infact it's was up to Capcom to pick it up for Jp recently.

As for FFVII that was only in US/EU. So makes little difference to Japan.. . seriously what japanese type games do Sony make. . . I can think of Wild Arms, Mister Mosquito, Bravo Music, Legend Of Legaia, Vib Ribbon and that's about it the rest are all Western style games and then they publish all of the Namco games in Europe and most of SquareEnix's.

Nintendo's games sell in all regions, actually better in Us than japan.(SMS, WW, Pikmin, SSBM, all sold better in Us than Japan.) It's just retarded to say Nintendo don't make games for western market, Nintendo's games has always sold in all religions, and that don't seem to change anytime soon. Of coure there is some games only for Japan, but they still make tons of games to appeal US, almost every month Nintendo graps over 10% of US software sales. Way more than Sony, who usually sell like 5%.

I never said did I, I very much doubt when games such as Pikmin, SMS are made they give much thought to the US. The fact they sell better is great but I never said they didn't.

Do Nintendo actually make games IN the USA/EU at all?

For the mainly Japanese audience? Just check out the list at SCEJ's page.
SCEJ's software list (http://www.playstation.jp/scej/index.html)

Among the titles listed (aside from the ones you've already mentioned) are:

Parappa the Rapper, Um Jammer Lammy, Taiko no Tetsujin, Boku no Natsuyasumi, Surveillance Kanshisha, Blood: the Last Vampire, Operator's Side, Popolocrois, Arc the Lad, Dekavoice, Minna no Golf, Otostaz, Chain Dive, Kumauta, Flipnic, Doko demo Issho, XiGo, Real Train Simulator, Poinie's Poin, Fantavision, Sky Gunner, Phase Paradox, Tsugunai, Sagashi ni Ikouyo, TVDJ, Scandal, Bikkuri Mouse.

They do make and publish a fair number of games that don't make it out of the Japanese shores.

Nice to see you again under a different name, Cyclops! You know, had you stayed away during the brief week your ban was set to, today you would have been unbanned and free to post.

Creating another User when you are tempbanned its a big nono, so your tempban is upgraded to permban. Bye.

Took you that long to figure that Seska? ;)

BTW, can you IP ban someone, or can he just make another 57 accounts?

Seska
10-22-2003, 08:07 AM
YEah it took me that long. You coulda dropped me a hint, you git. :p

Unfortunately he seems to have a dynamic IP, so short of banning his whole range (which would be unfair to other users) theres not much that can be done, save keep an eye out for any other accounts he may create and use.

I'm not quite sure myself :) The SCEJ site lists Flipnic's genre as "Georama Pinball".

<looks through the screenshots> Pretty... Reminds me of a pinball version of Fantavision. Kinda.

I just remembered that up until not that long ago Enix was the #1 publisher and Square was the #2 publisher in Japan. Now both combined are at #3? They're slipping......
