For me its not about the game. Its about the graphics engine. So if they can pull that sort of detail in Quake 4, imagine better games like RPGs or such with that sort of detail. All good!

yeah, QUake is usually for the engine, the game is only O.K.
Nice job finding those pics!

That might not be the case this time... this time around it might be Doom III for engine sake and we might actually get a good FPS with Quake 4.

Nowdays, i think PC *sux* for gaming stuff.

Ok, there's not what to discuss when it comes to graphic enhancements. But c'mon... i don't want and i don't NEED to upgrade a console every 6 months to run the new wave of games at decent speed on a CONSOLE SYSTEM!

Well except for FPS, where i feel much better in front of my PC.

BUT... if you add the mouse+keyb combo to a console with DECENT MULTIPLAYER SUPPORT (i've never seen that in a console. and don't say Dreamcast has it, cuz it has NOT!) and the FPS style will find a new home.

Then again, that's IMHO...:o

Well to be honest, theres been crap all for the consoles for a while. Aside from Winning Eleven 7, I haven't touched any of my consoles in the past 4months or so. But my PC gets daily playtime. Theres plenty of excellent games I'm still trying to catch up on. And you should only need to upgrade part of your system once a year. Which would be the equivalent of perhaps buying 2 games in a year. Thats not too bad when you think about it.

Besides, theres a few reasons why having an up to date system does for you. Games change often and better looking ones come out. The consoles stay constant for quite a while. After 2 years the system will produce the same looking games graphic wise. After 3, garunteed. And the things around for 5 years. The PC games change every year. Its why games always look better on PC. And also you use your PC everyday for the net and other programs. Updated pc means less problems and more speed! :D

I still stand by the fact that in about 10 to 20 years Nintendo will become a PC software developers because console gaming is just going to eventually be integrated fully into PCs... seriously, everything is moving to where all you will need in your house is a PC or MAC (yes, I said MAC, gotta give the folks at Apple some love), Cellphone, TV, and a Good Sound System... thats it... I mean you can go out and by a game pad and a graphics card that has a TV tuner and get the same effect as a console nowadays... with each day that passes consoles are becoming more and more like relics of the 80's and 90's. Online Console gaming will never take off because of one thing... go game online solely is stupid... your going to want email, internet browing, media players... and with all the crap thats happening and the community thats already behind PCs and Macs, it would be stupid to think that console would ever over take PCs gaming... I mean shesh, look at two of the console makers are, Mircosoft and Sony, hmmmmm sony has more put in to home applicance and computer hardware than any company out there, Mircosoft is the PC community, and you still have Linux and Mac OS.... plus a multitude of other computer OSs... Consoles are good at the moment for gaming but PCs are still better... I don't see any PC developers abandoning the PC to develope solely for consoles.... Why? One word we all love folks, Freedom.... PCs let you do more, plain and simple.

It came in Australia already?

Anyway, Im sure that Mario Kart and Mario Golf will keep you playing for long time. :D

Not to mention all the other juicy GC games...*Drools*

I really need to upgrade my PC, I want to play some Half-Life 2, so that my brain will turn into some sort of liquidy stuff and make me want to buy an Xbox...

As a Mac user, you don't have a bitching permit for costs. It costs so much more to swap graphics cards for a Mac than a PC and I've done it before. Went from a GForce 2 to a Radeon 8500 a few months back, then had to buy a $100 accessory that powers my monitor, since the 8500 didn't power the monitor like the GForce 2 did. The accessory has taken the nickname "Little Bastard."

Even if you dont have the hardware to run HL2, theres some pretty cool stuff coming uot for PC that uses the Quake engine (heavily modified, of course). Jedi Academy, for one, is a buncha fun if you like lightsabre based combat (and who doesnt!). And also, best of the whole lot is the game that with its inferior engine and technology stole the attention away from Doom3 at Quakecon: Call of Duty!

If you havent seen any movies for this game yet, do yourself a favor and go to www.gamesdomain.co.uk, and look for the game under the movies section, and grab the russian stuka and volga videos. Once you have watched them, procedd to change into a new pair of pants, for you will have soiled them.
