Last night (here in the UK anyway) Lucas Arts issued a press release revealing the launch date and pricing plan for their highly anticipated MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. After missing several launch dates already the game should now be available to buy in shops as of June 26th with the pricing plan ranging from $14 per month down to $12 per month as part of a years subscription to the service. However, the press release issued by Lucas Arts fails to mention to which territories it applies, hopefully us Europeans won?t be left waiting.
see the press release here (http://www.lucasarts.com/products/galaxies/press5.htm#)

$15 a month? That's not immense, but damn. That's $180 a year, unless you buy the year at $144.

hah. Till they add everything in like space travel and battles, this game is just a shadow of what it should be.

Im looking forward to the release jsut so I can take a peek at the SGW forum and watch all the pedant fanboys bicker over trite, meaningless details. Kinda like its done on a daily basis on the EQ boards, or the AO boards. Only jsut about 10 times worse. :D

I really don't see why people are complaing about the price of subscriptions to MMORPGs.... I mean thats one trip to the movies with a date or yourself plus popcorn and a drink.... and those will only last you 2 hours at the most.. where as SWG, EQ, and AO can give you how every much entertainment you want.... plus they give you a month free. I think that the 14 dollar price tag is more than worth it for a game like Star Wars Galaxies... there just so much to do and get involved, plus theres so much potental there.
Also, I agree with Alucard that right now the game is just a shadow of what it will be.... but really... it's a good thing that those things aren't in the final version of the game, as goes land based vechicles and becoming a Jedi... trust me when I say it's going to be a few months before anybody is going to have the credits to buy a simple jumpheap of a speeder and even more so it's going to be much longer before you see a jedi running around. If SWG is only a shadow of what it's going to be right now then honestly... the shadow is a lot better than a bunch of MMORPGs right now.
Wait, are you saying that there are no battles right now?

Duh, folks.... it's the launch of a game.... not everything is going to be availible to go right out of the box.... I was a Beta 3 tester and it's going to take some time getting your faction standing up enough, for that matter weapons skills are going to need to be boosted up.... folks it's a MMORPG, this is NOT a instant gratifcation type of game... like with anything that evetually is a great experence, your going to have to put some time and money into it.

Average price for a new DVD where I live is about 15 bucks... give or take... and no... but it's nice to know you have somebody to watch a movie with Atari (Just kidding, take nothing serious about the last part man)
