View Full Version : Email SPAM, The bane of my existence!!!

OK. So I made a huge mistake by using my work email address on some online forms now I get email SPAM constantly. I tried to motify my email filters to send any messages with keywords such as 'viagra' 'penis enlargement' directly to my deleted messages but it hasn't been working. Does anybody know of another way for me to get help before I resort to accepting emails from only certain address'?

My work computer is equipped with the awesome Win 98' and Microsoft Outlook.

Yeah, I wish it was that easy. I would be happy to get spam if I knew I could sue and win cash.

What you can do is set up a personal folder and forward any messages from email addys you like there. That way Only the spam gets stuck in your inbox, which you can quickly review and delete. Also, in every message there should be a way to unsubscribe from the mailing list- make sure you use it. (Though admittedly, sometimes it doesn't seem to help)

I also made the mistake of giving out my work addy once.. and to this day I still get like 3 or 4 spam a day... but it's better than the 10-15 a day I was getting at one point. :yikes:

I never got any "viagra" or "growth" spam though... When you gave out your email addy, just WHAT EXACTLY WERE YOU LOOKING AT, MISTER? :D

Btw, you still play Animal Crossing any?

Tell your network administrator to install "Spam Assassin". I have it on my mail server and I get zero spam. None. It kicks much ass.

Also, create a hotmail account to use for forms and the such.

I haven't lately. I am feeling like I need to start playing again and see if I can catch some new and different fish. How about you?

Hey Joe Redifer, Maybe I can install "spam assasin" on my own. Does it have a free version?

Sucks for you, if you don't mind me saying. I rather get no mail than a crap load of spam and whatever I signed up for. Good luck.

No. It must be installed and configured on the mail server itself.

On the same topic of email: What email client do you guys use? I made my email address on AOL way back in the day, and now it's a blackhole for spam. So I'm gonna abandon it like John to Julian and get a new email address and I wanted to know the general concensus of providers like hotmail, etc.
