Have you ppl heard? they're(new president) discussing a new SEGA system but I think it's highly unlikely. Even if they release the machine it's gonna be like a suicide mission.

you can check it out at spong.com

Yes, why not release a new console, when there is not one, not two, but three consoles that all sells millions. It would be really good move from Sega to release a new console right now.

No way in hell they can be that stupid. Hurhur!

This news is pretty old now and since it first came out Sega have totally denied the rumours completely. What happened was Bob Sega or whatever the dudes name is told a reporter that he'd loveto make games on a sega console again and that he'd help make it happen - he didnt say it will happen

I read that news from spong... read Yuji Naka said something about "inorder to realise this possibility, I'm working very hard" oddly enough they delete the info just a few day later...so Sega are only planning, but I still think it's highly unlikely... but then I always thought SNK was forever dead when I heard about their bankrupt, turned out I was wrong. So anything is possible.

I don't think it'll happen in the near future SEGA already have money trouble and can they really compete against the money mountains of MS and Sony look at Nintendo.

The Saturn was a good console I guess but most of the best games just never got released outside of jaoan.

i just think the Saturn was ahead of its time, it was the first console to use disks and maybe people were alittle afraid of it.

i would love a new Sega console, the only reason i didn't get Saturn was cause i had a Genisus, i didn't get a DreamCast cause i just got a N64, but now im finally in the times and i have a GCN... sorry a little off topic a new SEGA system would be awesome!

Ahead of it's time no, it was like the N64 lack of games!! Most of the interesting games on the saturn were unreleased anime games made by SEGA myself's and still didn't released them anywhere but japan...

I only ever manage to find about 6/7 games that I was interested in all the time I owned one (for the short time)

I know but the PS2/XB manage to get enough games out for there to be at least one interesting every week.

@Sin75: If you are up for buying Saturn games look for:

Thunderforce V (I think it was V)
Nights
Burning Rangers (:sing: We are Burning Rangers Go!:sing: )
Street Fighter vs. X-Men (incl. 4 MB Ram)
Virtua Fighter 2 (a real jewel back then)
Virtua Cop 1 & 2 (and a gun of course)
Panzer Dragoon 1 & Zwei
Azel (Panzer Dragoon Saga in US, I think)
Sega Rally 2
and one of the best beat em ups ever: FIGHTER MEGAMIX!!!
:cool guy:

Imagine a new Sega system with the following launch titles:

Fighter Megamix 2
Sega Rally 3 or Daytona 2
PSO (new and free version)
Panzer Dragoon shooter
Panzer Dragoon RPG
Shenmue chapter 1 - ?
Sonic

Would you buy one then? I surely would, but I would buy one no matter what games would be released!

One thing I also like about Sega is, that they did not hunt down import dealers like Nintendo and Sony did... there might not have been the best PAL support but at least u could get all the games imported...
On the other hand, the PAL support for DC is still unmatched, you could choose 60 or 50 Hz mode in almost any PAL-DC game!

Thanks for the reply, but I was asking mainly about import game that isn't released in EU/US.

I believe this would be a suicide mission on their part. There is no way they will be able to compete with the big 3.

Their last console Dreamcast was a great system but it wasn't recieved well enough to be a contender.

I've also felt betrayed by Sega in the past when they pulled out of 32x, Sega CD, and Saturn early. Then of course the Dreamcast didn't last long either. I don't think most casual gamers will give them yet another chance.

This won't happen.

BlueBoy, the Saturn wasn't the first console to use a CD. There were many before it. TurboGrafx 16 CD, Sega CD, Phillips CDi (ugh), to name a few.

No (that's just both TG16 and TGCD combined), I mean TGCD because that came out earliest.

So? Just think, Neo Geo was $700+ at that time. And besides, TG16 was (and is) awesome. Man, I have to review more games for that.

yeah, it is awesome, but not worth 300 bucks when it came out
