Does sony even have any plans for the PS2 hard drive to come out? or did they leave that big space on the back to disapoint?
I think if they are worryed about sales then they could get some 3rd party company to make one with a smaller size.i mean who really needs 40GB for game saves and drivers?Ive played many PS2 games since ive got it and i have 2 memory cards and the first one is no where near full.

Sony keeps promoting the broadband adaptor WITHOUT the hdd add-on. The utilization of the HDD unit at the moment is pretty questionable ( only in FFXI Jap that the use of the HDD is not optional). If Sony doesn?t bring this to the us, so what..... But there?s a question that comes with this subject. The Demo of FFXI on E3 required the HDD?? If they won?t bring the HDD, will FFXI be playable?
was it a jap demo pr a us demo?

I heard Sony is planning to launch the PS2 HDD in 2003, they want to push out the PS2 Broadband adapter first.
There is also a rumor that you can buy your own hard drive from computer store and connect it to the PS2.

yeah, sony should let 3rd parties make a smaller size of the HDD so it'll be cheaper, maybe a 10-20GB for $30?? but if they do bring it here, ama still get it, what ever the price will be...i think te demo of FFXI they showed at E3 was the jap version...=)
cuz the jap FFXI needs the HD but the us might not?
then again they plan on releasing the device around the same time FFXI is suppose to come out...

You already pay $35($25 now) for a 8MB PS2 memory card. $80 for a 40GB harddrive doesn't sound so bad. And you're buying it for more than one game.

I am not quite sure what is the reason an online game like FFXI would require the use of HDD? Can't they just put everything into a DVD-ROM? If there is a need for update patches, it can be stored on the 8MB memory card, or Square can send out update discs to subscribers.
actually ... does anyone know if the char's are stored locally or on square's servers?
