[STATS]
Games Beaten: 12
Unique Games Beaten: 12
Platforms: PC: 11, PS4: 1

1. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (2013) (PC) - January 27 - My favorite Assassin's Creed game so far. Really loved how well they respected the history of the Pirates during the Golden Age of Piracy and how they weaved the story. And the ship combat was fun. Really excited for Ubisoft's upcoming pirate game now, too. Game barely taxed my PC too, I was able to hike up ALL the effects to max and it never dipped under 60fps. Tons of thick volumetric smoke during ship fights with splinters and rubble everywhere. Awesome.
2. Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015) (PC) - February 3 - Aiight. Not as memorable as the first one, and super easy. Up the difficulty from the start. 'Tomb Raider' is default and it's easy mode. 'Season Raider' should have been default and normal, with 'Survivor' being hard mode and 'Extreme Survivor' being the hardest. I think the main reason it didn't feel memorable was that the story was kind of meh...
3. Alien: Isolation (2014) (PC) - March 11 - Probably the best Aliens game ever. Amazing sound design and music. Amazing game throughout, even with the subpar last half of the 3rd act. Played it on hard blind and was amazed at how good this was! If you are thinking of playing this, play it on hard mode! It'll beat your ass a little at first, but if you're crafty and conserve your items/weapons, you'll be fine. Also, fuck those androids! I can deal with the Alien just fine...but the androids? Forget about it!
4. Dishonored (2012) (PC) - March 15 - Fun stealth game with an amazing art direction that I loved. Story was decent, and moved pretty fast, which I liked. I thought it was too short, but it took me 20 hours to beat, so that's not too bad. Normal difficulty is stupid easy if you're a stealth veteran like myself. Glad I finally got around to this one, maybe it's time to look at the sequel too.
5. Doki Doki Literature Club (2016) (PC) - March 16 - Virtual Novel where cute anime girls in a book club fight over you and will do anything to have them become YOUR anime waifu!
6. A Way Out (2018) (PC) - April 5 - Pretty fun to play once with a friend. No reason to do it a second time. Minigames were pretty lame.
7. Frost Punk (2018) (PC) - April 26 - It's like SimCity...except during a perpetual winter with catastrophies always turned on. Actually really liked this game.
8. Pyre (2017) (PC) - May 3 - Ugh, kind of disappointed in this. It's got Visual Novel levels of reading, the story isn't that interesting, and the gameplay feels too basic. I appreciate SuperGiant taking a risk here, like they always do...but this time it didn't land with me.
9. The Walking Dead: A New Frontier (2016) (PC) - May 9 - Better than Season 2, but not one of Telltale's better games. The cast is interesting, but the scenarios and situations feel a little less organic. Often you just have one character flipping out for no reason and putting the entire group at risk.
10. Batman: The Enemy Within (2018) (PC) - May 10 - Probably the best Telltale game in terms of your choices actually having some kind of importance. Your relation with a certain character will determine what kind of story you get in Chapter 5 with most of the content being exclusive to each branch. An excellent take on the Joker and really strong performances all around.
11. Life is Strange (2015) (PC) - May 12 - A really amazing story and a fresh take on the genre. Graphics and animation are the weakest aspect, but the strengths of the game outweigh the negatives. If you like this genre, this is a must play. I thought it was just a flippant high school drama, but it really takes some dark turns that were unexpected for someone who went in nearly blind.
12. Detroit: Become Human (2018) (PS4) - May 27 - A typical David Cage game, which I absolutely love. Thought it was better than Beyond, but not as good as Heavy Rain. The addition of flowcharts showing options in each chapter is a good idea. Shows you how many different outcomes there actually are. Probably the best David Cage game, in terms of gameplay, though.

Yes!

This year I'm going to finish some of those hundreds of games still pending.

Finished:

-Nier Automata ending A. Heard that this game got abecedary endings so probably going to get stuck for a while with this one.

-Nioh: Way of the wise difficulty, now going for Way of the demon difficulty wich is awesome how many enemies and bosses can one shot you. You just can't rage enough.

-Shin Megami Tensei IV: Chaos ending because everyone loves to do whatever the hell they want completing the full set. Got to get SMTIV Final some time later.

-Fire Emblem Echoes: got a bit disappointed towards the end but guess I was expecting more than what I should have given the fact that this is a remake and that previous remakes where not such a big deal also. Got it for 60% discount so no regrets there.

I sort of finished Valkyria revolution on the PS4.

I say sort of because i lost patience with the penultimate boss randomly 1 shooting my party with no sort of warning and putting me 2 battles behind. It wasn't an hour an a half i was willing to gamble away again and i cba to grind just for it.
So, i just watched the final boss and ending on youtube (who also enjoys to 1 shot the party). It wasn't that i couldn't beat the game, it was just that it was a pointless and random time sink that would gain me the same as watching one hour of youtube.

So, the game isn't as bad as people would have you believe.
The story/narrative and characters is actually really good and why i kept playing for the most part.

The gameplay itself was repetitive and unbalanced. Every enemy is an easy kill and then there's these difficulty spikes on bosses where they have insane life bars and random 1 shot mechanics you can hardly react to. AKA that is just cheap. I had a boss battle last half an hour. It was kind of ridiculous.

So, aside from the fact that it wasn't Valkyria 4 and we can look past that. It was not a terrible game. I would like for this team to work on Skies of Arcadia 2. I think they could make a good job with it.

It's been a few years since I've played an Assassin's Creed game but you soon full back into things. This one is on a much smaller scale then the previous couple (Black Flag/III) the whole game takes in Paris with only a couple of trips outside. The game is decent but because of the smaller scale is does get repetitive because the whole things takes place on the streets only and it seems like you are always running around the same areas. I didn't do most of the side missions because I didn't really have the urge to but I did do the murder mystery ones with involve searching a crime scene, examining the clues and picking the guilty party which was interesting. Every few sequences there was a extra bit where you were transported in time for example climbing Effiel Tower while getting attacked by WWII fighters planes. This bits were interesting but were very short and mainly involved in getting from A to B and that's about it.

Like the Assassin's Creed series I'm way behind on the Atelier series. Finally getting to the last PS3 game in the series. This is one has interesting characters and story and I enjoyed my time with it but it has it's own problems. This is the first time in a while where the time limits in the series have been removed but it's still built like there should be one (a late decision maybe). However because the time limit isn't there the game seems really easy because you can take as much time as you want to meet the goals, the series has never been about fighting monsters and with the time limits gone you can breeze through the game with ease. I never even broke a sweet even with the final boss. I enjoyed soaking in the story though as they explains the secrets from the last three games.

This one is part walking simulator, part stealth shooter. The story is good but it's the kind of game you need to be wide awake to play you need to read every document and listen closely to the speaking to get the whole story. It was a little slow at times but well worth the time if you into mysteries and trying to figure out what's going on before it's revealed.

LOVED THIS GAME! I was kinda over the whole franchise after playing all the Ezio games and then getting dreadfully bored of Assassin's Creed III. But I always heard that Black Flag was good.

So I just watched the cutscenes of Assassin's Creed III to know the story (I didn't want to feel like I was missing out on anything) and jumped into Black Flag. The fact that it was like, 80% a pirate game and 20% an Assassin's Creed game was actually very good. And I know a little bit about the Golden Age of Piracy, so I was thrilled to see how well they actually weaved a story involving some of the most notorious pirates during that time. Very well done, really loved their characterizations of Mary Reed and Blackbeard.

Probably my favorite Assassin's Creed game of all time. But I am kinda worried I'm really not gonna like Unity nor Syndicate. And, to be fair, Origins doesn't look too appealing either. We'll see...

Black Flag is legitimately great.

After the turds that were 1 & 2, the rest of the series wasn't worth touching.

I liked this game so much that I played through it on PS3 AND THEN on PS4.

Black Flag is the only Ass's Creed game you need to play.

I can tell you Unity is nothing like Black Flag. In Unity everything as pretty much been scaled back again the whole game is set in one area. In and around the streets of France. It's certainly no huge adventure. Reminded me a lot more of the earlier Assassin's Creed games which is what they were going for I think.

Yeah, I've decided to just watch the cutscenes for it and maybe pick up Syndicate on sale. But I might just watch the cutscenes for Syndicate too, and wait for the summer sales for Origins.

Thought it was ok. Not bad, but not amazing either. The game is stupid easy too, don't play on the normal difficulty if you've played any game like this before (first Tomb Raider, Uncharted)...I jumped it up to a higher difficulty a few hours in because it was laughably simple.

Beautiful game though, I was getting 1440p at 60+ fps throughout the entire thing with max setting (hair effects off though).

Also the witch DLC was pretty awesome. Better story than the main campaign.

I beat Yakuza 0.

It was about what all Yakuza games are. Great story, mediocre mini-games and side-quests. The combat was still mediocre aswell, but a bit better.
From what i played this was the best Yakuza game, but i do think the series would benefit from some focus. Less quantity and more quality to the side content and combat system.

Yakuza kiwami.

More of the same, but not as good as zero. It felt like an expansion in how it wraps up the story.

This time, with more focus on the combat and less on the mini-games in terms of design though.

Battle chasers: Nightwar.

Best way to describe it is Diablo meets a great turn based system, meets the battle chasers comic.

The story was barebones, but the gameplay was pretty good.

It had some bugs and fps hiccups on the ps4, but i'm sure it's like that on every system. From the credits, it was programmed by only one guy. Shortcuts were made and some bugs fell through.
Still, pretty solid game. Would like to see them have a better budget and taking it further with a sequal.

Did you get any of the Ultimate weapons? I read of people being stuck, but the boss lasted me two turns.

I taunted with Gully, did the blood thingy AoE heal with the masked guy, level 2 burst with Garrison and flurry i think it's called. She got cut like butter. Was too easy. I do prefer the classic final bosses that take longer.
They were all level 30. Garrisons Ultimate weapon is the easiest to get. You just need to do the collosseum. Don't think Gully's was too hard but the masked guy's one was a bit more annoying. I only got them for those 3 as they were my main party. All level 30 too, but i'm sure 28 or 29 would've been fine aswell.

Did you notice that theres 2 perk trees for every character? I only noticed half way through the game.

Pretty good, but I feel like it lasted a little longer than it should have. It high high points midway through the 3rd act and then kinda...lingered in some very boring objectives that made you just go from Room A, to Room B, back to Room A, back to Room B. But overall, it's a brilliant game. I loved how it really payed homage to both Alien and Aliens. Best Alien game yet. Wish I could have gotten the rifle though...that sound.

Oh, and on my first playthrough, I beat it on Hard. If you like survival horror games, play this one on Hard first!

Resident Evil 7 and some of the DLC already. A lot better than I thought it was going to be. Stupid that the gold edition doesn't have the Not A hero DLC on the disc for some strange reason since end of Zoe DLC came out at the same time and that is on the disc.

I never got around to playing this when it released, because when I did...I killed Granny Rags by accident and hated that I missed out on all that content. At the same time, I didn't wanna replay everything to get her back so....I just shelved the game.

Coming back to this...6 years later....man, I feel like I should play all Stealth games at their highest difficulty. Normal is just too, too easy. By the end, I was just blinking around and knocking people out without much effort. I did mostly nonlethal (rats accounted for most of my 'kills') and found all runes/painting and dispatched all my targets non-lethally. Still, I think it was a fun game and love the art style. Not sure if I'll play Dishonored 2 soon, but we'll see.

What a weird, yet extremely cool, game. Yeah it's a virtual novel about Japanese high school club life where you (male protagonist) is surrounded by girls. But it's a video game that actually interacts with you, subverts expectations, and expects you to know how to poke around in your own game files. If you like meta games like ICEY and THE STANLEY PARABLE, you'll love this game.

Completely free to play (http://ddlc.moe/), and takes ~5 hours to complete.

Let them into your heart. Unleash your inner poet! Don't leave these cute anime girls hanging. :(

Outcast: second coming on ps4.

Difficult to say in few words, but it's best explained that it was a GOTY game back in the day and was remade with a team of about 10 people wich is amazing...
The game is in the adventure genre, wich doesn't get much love anymore, though it's basically an RPG with enphasys on exploration, puzzles and interaction with NPC's.

With that said, there was a toll to pay with low budget and a small team. The game is badly optimised, the controls are terrible, it freezes temporarely at time, animations are buggy, laughable or at times non-existant.

With proper development it had huge potencial. It is base for GOTY afterall, but it is what it is. I'm glad i finally got to see what it was all about, but it's difficult to recommend. You need alot of tolerance to alot of bugs and jank.

I beat Shadow of the Collosus PS4.

Honestly, it was a similar experience from what i remember of the original but less impressive.

Why? Because the game didn't age well.

First, they chose not to fix the controls. So the game still controls like ass all these years later. It was mediocre then, and it's awful now. Especially the damn horse. It pisses me off!
The camera is that kind of classic hell as well. You can move it, but it's constantly trying to do it's own thing making controlling the horse and looking around an impossible task.

The world doesn't feel as large as it did because now there's tons of open worlds that are bigger.
The colossus no longer feel incredible cause there's games with giant enemies and much better game play.

What holds is the aesthetics. It is still a unique game in it's special art style and it's beautiful because of that. But, this was a missed opportunity to add more colossi. The game is super short and that wouldn't be acceptable by today's standards, it needed a bit more than what it has.

In short: The game didn't age graciously and it's no longer the same groundbreaking game it was in it's inception. But, it is a classic. It's not bad, but it's not incredible either.

I never found the original PS2 to be OMOGMOGMOMG GAME TO BEAT type of game, like many others did. It was just good. Having nice visuals is not even 2nd to me considering I'm fine with a game being 4 bit Atari 2600 looking and still being fun.

It was ok.

Just kidding, it's in the top 5 of Telltale's story games for sure. TWD1, Wolf, and Borderlands take the top 3...and this is probably #4. Probably the first time choices actually kinda mattered in a Telltale game, since Chapter 5 is essentially two different stories based on what happens.

And the Joker is amazing in this.

Wow. I was actually really impressed by this. The time-travelling aspect was a fresh take on the interactive-story (or whatever this genre of game is called) and the characters were actually pretty good. I donno if I'd call this better than any Telltale game, but it's definitely up there with them. If you like these types of games, you definitely should give it a try.

Also, so far in 2018, I've beaten a game released from 2012 all the way through 2018. Neat. I wonder if I can go all the way back to 2008.

I also beat The Raven Remastered. It's a fun point and click game but it's a bit buggy.

Worth playing if you can find it though.

I'm going to have to bump TF2 up on my play schedule. You're the second person I've seen this week talk about how good the campaign is.

Titanfall 2 definitely a must play for the campaign. Had a blast and sorry it was over when I beat it.

Beat Batman Arkham Knight on PS4.

Most of the DLC aswell, but didn't waste time on those riddler trophies and just watched the 100% ending on youtube. No regrets. The grind wouldn't be worth it.

Anyways... this was better than City, wich i completely ditched. but, honestly i can't bring myself to love the games. They are ok, but everytime i start enjoying it, something comes along to piss me off. Mostly controlling the gliding in small spaces, the remote batarang and the difficulty spikes.

It was ok. But i enjoyed Mad max more, wich is a similar game. The infamous batmobile wasn't so bad actually. I enjoyed it despite the weird controls. I never got used to the brake/reverse on square though..
Oh, extra points on the particle effects at one point in the main story. Too bad it goes away a bit after. Looked like Gotham at christmas time.

I found out that MS fixed the crash bug on the 360 backwards compatibility after many years, so i replayed Panzer Dragoon Orta!

I miss the series.

If Microsoft wanted to be worth anything, they'd finance a remake of Panzer Dragoon Saga, whose 20th anniversaty is this year.
I feel old. :(

They already tried making a spirital successor to Panzer Dragoon with Crimson Dragon doubt they'll go there again.

I'm not asking for the on rails shooters. i want a remake of the RPG (saga).

But yeah... fat chance.

We're expecting great things from these new games coming to PS4, Xbox One, ... We'll surely see more of hotly anticipated titles set for this year like Red Dead ... whatever part of your body you deem worthy in time to the beat.

Liked it a lot. The idea of showing off a flow chart of possible pathways was actually a really good idea and made me curious about revisiting it and trying out different pathways. Better than Beyond Two Souls for sure, though there wasn't very many OMG moments. It's moreso just the process of playing through a long movie that's compelling.

Tales of Hearts R on Vita.

Surprisingly decent despite the low budget. Still managed to be enjoyable unlike the more recent home console entries. The random encounter rate was the only other minus.

With a bigger budget it could've been great. It felt like a fully fledged Tales of entry. Often i felt like i was at the end but it kept going. It was 35 hours or so without side-quests.

Considering this was originally a DS game, it wasn't bad at all. But, i feel like i'm over the series. The dialogue, the personalities, the plot... they all feel like "been there, done that". The initial plot of the game is an exact copy of Tales of Symphonia, though it gets a bit more interesting as it ges on, but again, these anime clichés we have seen a dozen times.

finally beat Radiant Historia with the true final ending. ugh, the last artifact I needed took forever to figure out that I just caved and looked up what I was missing and it was a stupid side quest that the only way you would know if you back tracked for no reason at all!

Played through the campaign on Destiny 2 again, but this time on my new pc build. Went from a Q9300 and DDR2 ram to an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X and DDR4. Kept the RX 480. My previous system was getting 15-18 fps at the Farm on medium setting and around 25-30 fps on missions. New system 55-60 fps on ultra settings at the Farm and 60 fps (I've got v-sync enabled) every where else. I love my pc again.

Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4.

Couldn't have been more "Meh". I rushed through the main story cause the game was so boring. It felt like an inferior expansion of the previous game. The story managed to be even less interesting as well.
