Sounds like Sega is getting serious about Shining.....20 years too late!

They released aload of Shining games in the west about a decade ago but when the series went to the PSP they pretty much stopped because SEGA America didn't think the PSP was worth it.

During that time sega of America did a poor job releasing most of their games. So many fails that they just didn't want to risk it and brought as many sonic games as they could.

Good times really...

I'd rather Sega makes a new Shining Force tactical RPG like the ones in Genesis/Saturn era.

Me too Rubeus.

They just pissed on the Shining series with cliché japanese anime stuff.

It's very far from the glory days of Shining Force 3 and Shining the holy ark.

It seems like the tactical RPG genre is kind of dead these day, what do you think?

The only TRPG series managed to survive is Fire Emblem, most of the other ones like Shining Force, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, Vandal Hearts are all gone.

And Disgaea but it seems that for some people those games are way too complex to be enjoyable.

It's alot like the survival horror genre. They just decided to uniaterally think it's something people don't want.

But, the resurgence of Fire Emblem proves that the audience is still there.

Disgaea has always gone overboard. It's definitly niche. But, Shining Force 4 has the potencial to rival FE. It was always better, but SEGA didn't believe in it. Once camelot became a Nintendo second party they haven't even tried.

But hey, i just saw Valkyria 4 announced, so my faith in SEGA is slowly getting restored (lets ignore Sonic forces). Go SF4 and Skies of Arcadia 2!

For sega some of the console failures seemed to drag along the interesting franchises they had on those while creating some good ones to be fair. I alway thought that Shining Force took a hit on those mistakes.

You should know better than being this naive. They will find a way to let you down way sooner than you think (next sonic game in 2018).

"Slowly" being the operative word. ;)

But hey, we got Sonic Mania, Yakuza localisations, Valkyria 4... it's been worse.

Almost forgot one TRPG series, the Super Robot Taisen series is always alive, but it's mostly because of the anime, there's very little tactics in the games I assume.

Sonic Mania that game that was fan made? It just puts on shame mostly everything that sega has done with the franchise for about a decade.

About Yakuza it's thanks to Zero that restored sega's interest in localisation, a unexpected success that it's well deserved.

While I do like SRW games and own several of them honestly it's more about cinematics than actual well thought strategy. It's not much about difficulty even when enemies got tons of health and devastating attacks you just need to customize 2 mech upgrades and pilot skill points to break those games.
