View Full Version : Virtua Cop Rebirth???

I just saw this at http://www.ncsx.org/2002/ncs052002/ncs0520.htm. While I heard a rumour about it in early April, Sega quashed it, but here it is again for pre-order. I wonder what the deal is?

The June issue of PSM says that Sega is remaking VC1 and VC2 for PS2.
They may or may not have scrapped it. If you can verify that Sega squashed it, then it probably means they are not making them for sure. Otherwise, it is probably a rumor and that VC1 and 2 are coming for PS2 for sure.
I am guessing that VC1 and 2 for PS2 is not a hoax from what I see.

yeah, i hope they do make it for PS2. its about time that they release another shooting game. cuz i kinda got tired of play Time Crisis..=)

As some1 who's played VC1 and 2 on the Saturn, I'm not that anxious to see it on the PS2. Besides, TC2 isn't the only lightgun game on PS2.. this isn't exactly the XBOX. I already count five lightgun titles, TC2, Vampire Night, Police 911, RE Gun Survivor 2, Gun Survivor 3 Dino Crisis. I'm looking forward far more to Ninja Assult.

I can't wait for TC3 on PS2. It'll come sometime after the TC3 Arcade version is released.
Oh yeah, don't 4get about Endgame, a European-originated lightgun game. It is coming to PS2 on June 4 (USA). It will also be Guncon2 compatible.

TC3 Arcade is expected to arrive in Fall 2002.

Excellent! Sega's gun games are so vastly superior to Namco's. I cannot wait to have arcade perfect (or better?) Virtua Cop at home.

How are Sega's lightgun games superior to Namco's? Well maybe Namco doesn't have a House of the Dead (Vampire Night was by Sega) really but for sure Time Crisis and Crisis Zone are a lot better than VC... they're more action packed.

yeah, i think TC is better than VC, the hide/dock move thinggy is really cool!!.. but im kinda tired of TC, i just hope that sega makes a new VC..=)

I don't like the whole duck and hide gameplay of Time Crisis. The action is in having to hit everyone quickly, before they can get a shot off. What challenge is there in ducking behind something? I will admit that VC is not my favorite Sega gun game. I prefer the House of the Dead series and Lost World.

Ducking makes the game more realistic. In real life you could move aside and take cover and dodge things instead of being a sitting duck. I get your point about fast acting but I believe more in realism here.
What do you think of Konami's Police 911, btw? ;)

So Virtua Cop Rebirth has finally been confirmed by Sega and it is coming out in August!
As for Police 911, I never played the game on PS2, but I think there are quite a few flaws in the arcade version. First the character animation looks so terrible, he runs like a 60 years old man with backpain or something, very unrealistic. Secondly, each stage is too short, I'd rather they combine all the little missions into one huge stage like in Time Crisis.
By the way, I wonder why Crisis Zone is never ported to PS2, it's such a nice game, at least better than Ninja Assault. Namco should've bring this game to PS2.

CZ would be nice, but I'd rather see the upcoming TC3 for ARC/PS2. ;) I've played CZ many times and it's really cool but I've never Ninja Assault (havent seen it around here) but I assume CZ is better.
