So it's a continuation of Front Mission, but I want it as a real time tactical RPG instead.

TGS 2017: Left Alive Is Set in the Front Mission Universe -- Front Mission's Wanzers are also in Left Alive.

Square Enix's new survival action shooter Left Alive is set in the Front Mission universe.

As confirmed by Weekly Famitsu (translation via Gematsu), Left Alive uses the same world of the Front Mission series and takes place between the tactical RPG series' fifth entry and Front Mission Evolved in the year 2127.

“We wanted to make a Front Mission with a new lineup. We started this new title to see Front Mission in a slightly different perspective," said producer Shinji Hashimoto.

It's also been confirmed Left Alive will contain three playable characters, which are the three protagonists you see on the game's key visual. Throughout the story you'll bounce between each character, as they're isolated in the city Left Alive takes place in, which is somewhere in Russia.

Front Mission's Wanzers, the walking-type mobile weapons from the series, will also make an appearance in Left Alive. You'll have to battle them as well as steal a Wanzer away from the enemy.

Left Alive will also sport weapon crafting, some replayability elements with choices that'll have an affect on the story, and a stage-based structure. The developers are hoping for online elements, but nothing's set in the stone just yet.

At first I thought it could have been a Front Mission game but the title was misleading.

They got in there Toshifumi Nabeshima from Armored Core fame, let's see if it turns something half decent.

The last Front Mission wich was a 3rd person shooter was mediocre.

Left Alive TGS 2017 trailer, screenshots
First look at Square Enix's newly announced survival action game.

Square Enix debuted the first gameplay trailer and screenshots for its newly announced survival action game Left Alive at Tokyo Game Show 2017.

The third-person shooter is set in the world of Front Mission—chronologically between Front Mission 5 and Front Mission Evolved—and follows three protagonists isolated in the war-torn Russian city where the game is set, each acting independently in order to survive. Wanzers, the mecha from the Front Mission series, will appear. While you will mainly confront them as enemies, it is also possible to steal and pilot a Wanzer. The primary objective of the game is survival. There is a crafting element as well. And the route you take to get to your destination is up to you. Read more about the game here.

Left Alive is due out for PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam in 2018.

Funny enough I just finished Front Mission Evolved their first try at a third person shooter in the FM world. Hopefully this one is a little more polished.
