Penguin Wars remake announced for Switch

City Connection remaking 1985-released arcade game.

A remake of Peguin Wars, which was first released for arcades in Japan in 1985, and then ported to Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, and other platforms, is coming to Switch as a Nintendo eShop title developed by Soldam: Drop, Connect, Erase studio City Connection this fall in Japan, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.

The game sees the player and opponent each start with five balls on their side of the table. The object of the game is to get all 10 balls to the opponent’s side of the table at the same time.

In addition to one-versus-one and two-versus-two, there are also special rules such as replacing the balls with bombs. Both local and online multiplayer are featured, with up to four players supported for the former. Each character has a unique special technique. There is a story mode with a growth element, as well.

In addition to modern remake versions of the background music, the game will also use tracks from artists active in the game music club scene both inside and outside of Japan.

Development is currently 75 percent complete.

I like the simple look in the original way more, the remake screen is "too busy".
