Looks interesting, kind of like SF4.

Street Fighter EX Dev's April Fools Fighting Game Is Real, Includes Skullomania

On April Fools Day this year, Street Fighter EX series developer Arika announced a new fighting game. The joke, however, was on those who thought it was a joke - the game's actually real, and will include long-lost characters from the EX series in its roster.

At EVO 2017, Arika showed off a new trailer for what it's currently only calling "The Mysterious Fighting Game". The trailer featured featuring the three previously revealed characters - Garuda, Hokuto and Kairi - but added a new character, Shirasa, and two returning EX characters, Darun Mister and fan favourite, Skullomania:

The game is in development for PS4, and Arika promises a "limited time beta/server test" on PS4 at the end of 2017. The trailer suggests an April 1 release in 2018, and says the game will release simultaneously in North america, Europe and Japan.

One remaining question regards how much, if anything, will this new game have to do with Street Fighter as a whole. Arika calls this "the newest entry in the EX Series" - all EX games so far have been branded as Street Fighter games, and included characters from Capcom's mainline games. However, neither Arika nor Capcom has made any connection to Street Fighter so far.

Street Fighter EX was a spin-off that transplanted Street Fighter's 2D style into 3D, in an attempt to compete with the likes of Tekken and Virtua Fighter. Its popularity spawned two more spin-offs, and Arika retained the rights to the characters it created for the games.

EVO was chock-full of fighting game announcements - in a similarly unexpected move, Arc System Works announced BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, which includes characters from BlazBlue, Persona 4, and Rooster Teeth's RWBY series.

It looks very decent and quite dinamic.

The game is still a beta but with what I saw on the game mechanics was a system very similiar to the gem system on Street Fighter x Tekken where you select boosters, I really hope that doesn't make it to the final game.

It didn't work for SxT and damn sure it won't on this one.

Also surprised that it's already schedule for a console launch and in simultaneous regions.
