If you want, you can get a key for Dead Space through Origin. Expires May 8, 2014.

I already downloaded mine. I got Origin recently at much cost (because i hate to support EA) just cause i love command and conquer (got the ultimate edition for 15 euros with all of them).

Its not a series that ever interested me, but i will now give it a try at least. If i like it... theres 2 more games on the cheap i can get. If i dont, nothing lost.

Yeah, I don't think there is a sane person who likes the fact that we have to run Origin to play EA games. But, damnit, they hold so many damn IPs that it's hard to avoid them. Oh well, at least the program itself is getting better. Sometimes it's more responsive than Steam (Oh no he didn't!) and it doesn't go down as often as Steam does (Oh snap!).

My experience so far hasnt been positive. After i finished red alert the thing wouldnt start anymore. I tried a multitude of things for a couple of hours until i finally managed to fix it. Somehow the window got streched across the equivalent of 5 monitors and i had to manually drag and reduce it.
But at least its working and the c&c westwood games are pure gold. Hey at least im getting a free game after all the hassle.

I dont use steam btw. Only game i got was half life 2 and i didnt take a liking to it. Was years after it came out.

My older brother has Origin since he purchased BF4. He has owned the game for 4 weeks now and still cant play it. Origin wont let him sign in. And on the very rare chances it does, it wont go online. He contacted EA support who tell him to uninstall and reinstall. I looked in EA's forums for help but all I got twas 10,000 post of people having the same issue.

You have to keep trying everything you can find. If you will wait for them to do something, then you are gonna wait for a long time. Its EA afterall.

I dont know if its the same problem, but i tried following the steps on this thread, wich for the most part might not work and i also set it to run as administrator, on windows 7 compatibility (since that is what i have). Also, open an exception on your firewall for origin and origin customer.

Im sure those 3 are worth trying just to see if he has better luck.

I've honestly never had any issues with Origin :|. I have over 15 games on it. Though a lot of those were from the humble bundle and from older disc based games I purchased from EA (i.e. Dead Space 2, Dragon Age). You can use those keys with Origin and get them 'registered' to your account for the ease of downloading them whenever you wish.

My gripe is that is has been, and always will be, unnecessary and was a product of EA wanting the userbase information to sell because Valve wouldn't give EA the info. But, I don't discount the fact that EA actually DOES have a return policy for their games (Steam doesn't) and they were the first to integrate streaming via the Origin client.

Doh... this dummy forgot to link the thread.

Here it is: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/6689780.page Hope it helps.

Oh... and DS stop defending EA. You're creeping me out! :P Though i cant complain that i got a free game from them and a kickass collection for only 15 euros. Still... its gonna take alot more for them to convince me they changed their ways.
