Released yesterday, anyone playing it? I'm loving it! Perfect mix between Rastan, Castlevania and Ghouls 'n Ghosts, by 2 ex-developers of Shinobi 3Ds (which was also great!). As they proved before in Shinobi 3Ds they know what makes an action platformer exciting, fast paced gameplay, NOT with enemy sponges for you to do some boring juggle combos, because it want's to be Devil May Cry cool (doesn't work for action platformers as well as belt scroll games imo), exciting stage design full of well placed enemies and traps.

Since 2012 we've seen the return of Action Platformers (by the indies), and by that I mean a more faster paced old skool style and not the metroidvania school. Volgarr is every bit as great as Maldita Castilla or Oniken. Get it while it still hot, and funny to see a familiar face on the number one ranking spot.

The one and only negative critisism is the music... boring ass "epic" music, you see in Hollyass movies, not in fast paced action platformers.

Also is it me or does it look a bit like Amiga style graphics???

I have! It looks very cool, very old school.

If you are going to get this game, DON'T BUY IT DIRECTLY THROUGH STEAM! Why? Because at their webpage (http://www.volgarrtheviking.com/) they have a humble widget that will give you access to a DRM-FREE download link, a steam key, and a digital manual. So really, at full price, (it's currently cheaper on Steam by 17% however) you'll get a Steam key anyways plus a DRM-free link to back up forever!

No problem! A lot of Indie games offer the same deal, buy the DRM free link and you get a Steam key for free. It usually the same full price as Steam so why not, right?

Not all of them offer DRM free links, but many of them do!
