Yeah, I saw that Gold Box deal. So my hopes are high! If I can get Assassins Creed 3, Dishonored, and Far Cry 3 for $80 total, I'd be stoked!

12-14-2012, 05:06 PM
My wallet is not ready. Car problems too op.

12-20-2012, 12:12 PM
Today is the day. Wallet, I... I love you, I don't mean to do this to you every year but, Steam...

Drunken Savior
12-20-2012, 11:57 PM
Got Arkham Asylum....just so I can have it on Steam in case I lose the disc...

12-21-2012, 12:09 AM
wow... nothing I want..... the hell.

Drunken Savior
12-21-2012, 06:41 AM
I am Alive for $5.09. A little expensive...but I want to play through it once.

12-21-2012, 08:38 AM
Hmm, tempting.

Drunken Savior
12-23-2012, 09:36 AM
Kinda disappointed with the flash sales...lots of smaller titles, older games and indie games. Hope we get some franchise games up there soon.

12-23-2012, 06:08 PM
I've only bought 2 games so far :(

Fear 3 and Condemned.

12-23-2012, 06:10 PM
I've bought quite a few but splashing out less than I usually do. Today's deals are really good but I have them all, it sucks. Walking Dead, Portal, Dragon Age, STALKER, Chivalry. I've been bigging up Walking Dead to everyone I know, that game needs to be played by all.

12-25-2012, 09:56 PM
I got Walking Dead and it's amazing. I've never seen the show (will get to it eventually) but the game kicks ass.

Drunken Savior
12-26-2012, 01:11 AM
Be warned, the game is closer to the comic than it is to the TV show (which is based on the comic).

12-26-2012, 07:52 AM
Walking Dead was flat-out my GOTY, 100%. Best story-telling I've ever seen in a game.

12-26-2012, 08:09 AM
compared to the tv series?

12-26-2012, 11:42 PM
Holy shit episode 3 got real.

Fuck Lilly.

12-28-2012, 01:04 PM
So how's everyone doing? It's been a pretty good sale so far and we've still got quite a while to go. How many games can Steam give us for so cheap?!

Drunken Savior
12-28-2012, 01:10 PM
Still hoping for deep discounts on Dishonored, Far Cry 3, and ACIII. But so far I got:

12-28-2012, 01:15 PM
Well, my list isn't as pretty as yours, Sir, but I've got:

Batman: Arkham City GOTY
Witcher 2 (again)
SimCity 4
Dungeon Defenders
Ace of Spades (for name alone)
The Basement Collection
They Bleed Pixels
Borderlands 2

and we still have, what, a week to go? Poor wallet.

Drunken Savior
12-28-2012, 03:05 PM
Maybe we can play Borderlands 2 together sometime!

[EDIT] Looks like Assassins Creed III went onsale for -25%, to put it at $37.49. I was hoping for -50% off to put it at $25.00....but maybe I should just get this? It's currently the daily deal, not a flash deal though....

12-28-2012, 03:26 PM
Sure man. I'll probably be buying the Mechromancer and use her, she looks fun. Why would I play as Axton and get a turret when I can get a giant fuck off robot?

As for AC3, I doubt we'll see it at 50% off till next year, but I think it's worth the price it's currently at, though maybe there'll be some better deals for it boxed in other sales? Always worth shopping around, can always activate it on Steam once bought. I played it at work because my current PC could hardly handle it, being natively Dx11. It looks gorgeous, and is really fun. A similar step-up from AC2 that AC2 was to the first one.

Drunken Savior
12-28-2012, 04:03 PM
That'd be sweet. I've been playing as Zero and making him a mega high offensive/low defensive character. So having a big beefy robot at my side would be very complementary.

As for AC3, I see the deluxe version for $34 often, but it's through here: http://www.direct2play.com/329-assassin-s-creed-3-deluxe-edition-pc-game-ubisoft-digital-download.html

Can I link that to Steam as an official game?

12-28-2012, 04:38 PM
I dunno how that store works. If it gives you a CD key then you should be able to activate it on Steam, I've done that with places like GameFly before. I found this article on their website though, saying how to do it:

So I'll go out on a limb and say you can, because of that, but not 100%. :indiff:

What level are you on Borderlands and where abouts are you? Since I'll need to play catch-up.

Drunken Savior
12-28-2012, 04:49 PM
I'm either 19 or 29....not 100% to be sure. But I might just make a new character (Siren) to play with until our levels are similar. Or I can just overwatch you and follow you around and be OP....in case you get into a pickle.

12-28-2012, 04:54 PM
I will forever be in a pickle since enemies scale based on our average level.

Oh and also, on Green Man Gaming XCOM is 50% off if you haven't got it, rather than the 33% of Steam's deal, and it activates on Steam too. So if you want to pick that up, is a good deal.

Drunken Savior
12-28-2012, 04:58 PM
Thanks, but I've already put 58 hours into XCOM and beat the last boss in 1 turn (1 heavy aiming bonus, 2 sniper headshots). I was way OP. Still a great, great game. Has some serious bugs in it, but it's otherwise got amazing, replyable, gameplay.

12-28-2012, 05:03 PM
I agree, it and Dishonored both came out around the same time and both blew me away. The snipers became OP, when they could 1-hit most things and could take tonnes of shots. Hopefully they make another one, give more options. I didn't love how everything was purely an upgrade, there was not really any 'Hmm, this one does this, but then this does this...'.

Drunken Savior
12-29-2012, 01:20 AM

I couldn't stop myself. Now I'm hoping Far Cry 3 can be had at the same price....

12-29-2012, 12:34 PM
I was surprised to see Assassin's Creed 3 on there. And Sins of a Solar empire Rebellion is a cool game. A really fun space RTS.

Drunken Savior
12-30-2012, 02:52 PM
Whelp....Far Cry 3 for $37.50 (-25%) is up......and so is Mark of the Ninja for $7.50 (-50%)....do I bite and assume this is the cheapest they'll be for a few months?

12-30-2012, 05:11 PM
I'd say FC3 is worth that price, one of the few free-roam games that doesn't sacrifice everything to just bring that e.g. it has a good story as well as a huge game world to explore with lots to do. Though I imagine it could go cheaper perhaps in an Easter sale. Fantastic game though, it'll keep you busy for a while.

But Mark of the Ninja is an absolutely brilliant game and is well worth that price. I feel like I want to donate more money to the dev it was so good. Can't sing that game's praise enough, so simple and yet done with more finesse and style than almost any other title. One of the best 2D games I've ever played. Great art style too, the cutscenes are animated like an old-school cartoon.

So if you like stealth games, can't do much better than Mark of the Ninja. It's sat on a 91/100 on Metacritic so people agree. Pretty amazing for a little Indie game.

I've been wanting to try MotN for awhile, but hearing people praise it has kinda jarred me. Whenever I hear something so absolute as "Let it stand as the benchmark by which all stealth games are now measured."(10/10 - Destructoid), my "Really?" B.S. detector goes off like wild. But I think I'm ready to just ignore one single review and acknowledge all the other positive praises from both players and reviewers alike and try it!

I am so weak. Gaben had his way with me this Steam sale:

01-04-2013, 07:59 PM
Just got I am Alive today, it's the only game I'm really interested in this entire sale, hopefully it's somewhat enjoyable.

Drunken Savior
01-04-2013, 08:14 PM
It seems like one of those C+ games that you'll play once just to experience it and then never again. Like a proof-of-concept game. Worth $5, in my mind. I got it too awhile ago.

01-04-2013, 08:17 PM
I've played quite a few games that people considered meh and kept playing them non stop. So I guess I will see when I finish downloading it.

People hated Vanquish and God Hand for example and I loved the shit out of those games.

Sale has been extended to cover the weekend. Sale ends January 7 [SOURCE] (http://kotaku.com/5973218/the-holiday-steam-sale-is-getting-an-encore-this-weekend)

Gaben says "No reacharound, Wallet."

01-04-2013, 09:32 PM
I feel loved. My wallet, on the other hand, feels abused. I've gotten a pretty big haul this sale. :P

Drunken Savior
01-05-2013, 01:47 AM
Dishonored for $29.99 (-50%). I want, but it's been out for awhile...so maybe I can just play the games I bought and wait for a mid-week, daily, or weekend deal in Feb/March? Then again, it is a Bethesda game and they seem to never go on sale on Steam unless it's a seasonal sale. What say you KOS?

Also...I see Spec Ops: The Line on Amazon (Steam DRM) for $7.49 and I've heard some good word of mouth on that as well...

Also, the URL for Spec Ops says 'BOOBS n TITS' so the internet has given is an overwhelming positive review: http://amzn.com/B0085NTITS

[EDIT] I got Spec Ops. I like Boobs n Tits, so this was obviously the game for me.

01-05-2013, 10:22 AM
I'll just say I bought Dishonored for full price and the only thing I regretted was not actually pre-ordering it and having to wait a few days to play it, it's that good; The Walking Dead wins my story game of the year but for actual gameplay Dishonored takes the trophy. Definitely a game you can't pass up on if you like assassin-stealth games. I love the non-linear, 'approach this any way you like' kind of thing Dishonored does, with all the different powers.

3 thumbs up from me. Spec Ops is great too, amazing storyline. Really is quite strong.

dem sales got damn.
