hmm thought we had a thread for this...

Of all my Xbox games, over half of them are Halo titles. :P Well I'm definitely looking forward to this, it's the only FPS I'll play with a controller since I do really enjoy the Halo lore and I'm looking forward to the campaign. I'm not planning on going anywhere near the multiplayer though.

I like Halo a lot :)

I'm really hoping this game captures some sense of fighting something bigger than yourself. I want to get into situations and think "woah, how am i gonna get out of this one?" not "lol i'm the chief!" and the just kill everyone like nothing lol

Even ODST I just kind of ran through the game on legendary in some parts, guns-a-blazin' lol

Edit: I wasn't planning on reserving this. I went into GameStop today sold Dragon's Dogma and ME3. I had like $45 so I put down on RE6 and they've taken all the PS2 games out of their boxes and kept them in their sleaves. So I basically skimmed through and picked up Samurai Warriors 2 for 8.99. Then when I was checking out they prompted me about Halo 4. I said I was mad about Bungie not developing it. Then he proceeded to say the two titles he was looking forward to.. NFS and H4. Then he said half the team at 343 was from bungie and that I should ignore it and it will be awesome....get DLC armor...woohoo I don't care about stupid DLC. Especially since it for the armor.
Then it went to DLC bonuses for Dead Space 3, I wanted to cringe at this point.

But I left with a preorder for H4. It made me mad when Reach was apparently the last game. So I don't have any hype left for Halo.

Ok. This is pretty awesome. But it's nothing really new with futuristic FPS.

Because the Spartan armour just isn't enough?

If my 360 still worked I'd get this. Halo is a solid shooter despite the hate it gets. I own 1-3, and 3 still has a 3-7k active player base. I like the multiplayer (muted) and campaigns.

I'm hoping to get a review copy for this. I haven't even finished the remake of Halo 1 yet, doh.

I saw a clip of the mech in use. It totally looks like a Metal Gear rip. lol.

I used to be in love with the franchise. Then after years of playing multiplayer and I had the friends in high school play online all the time (i got to meet a lot of halo players). I felt with H3 everything changed in weird ways. I didn't bother with ODST, yet I picked everything else up.

I'm picking this up to try and get into it again. I haven't played matchmaking in years. So I'll either enjoy the campaign or try multiplayer, but I hate paying to play online.

I just don't think in my prime of playing video games that I want to make Halo my number one title to remember and I know there are a LOT of fans who do make it their only game.

10-05-2012, 06:15 AM
It looks like more of the same ol meh. I don't hate the series at all part two kind of soured me a bit towards it though. Come on now a giant talking plant? But I'll probably pick it up after the price drops a bit. Because I don't play online at all anymore so a good story is a must.

Long but enjoyable article about Halo 4, Spartan ops mode, and more:

343 Industries: Halo 4 and the untapped power of the Xbox (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-10-03-343-industries-halo-4-untapped-power-of-xbox)

I especially like this sentiment:

I think that looking forward into the future I can see years from now, even after next-gen platforms are out, that you'll have lower priced versions of the existing consoles happily living side by side and serving really valuable functions. Not just becoming the little brothers like cast offs, but still being your Netflix player, still being you DVD player, your Blu-ray player in the case of the PS3, and still doing really vital things around your house. And that means if people are still using it they're still going to want gaming experiences on it.

I would say that I expect this generation will last a lot more years. Now you've got your hardcore fans who are going to look at that statement and say 'but I want new hardware.' We know new hardware is going to come, it always does, but I think the utility of the older consoles is going to last longer than ever before.

I liked this sentiment:

The game look greats

I'm down for any game that look greats!

10-07-2012, 06:41 AM
lol "untapped power"

Joe, you should be a copy editor! I actually do a bit of copy editing at my two sites, as I've always enjoyed it. There is another response in the article that's worded really oddly, and I wish the author had fixed it up.

lol "untapped power"

What he means by that is that you can still squeeze better graphical performance from each system. It's proven in the upgrade from Halo 3/ODST to Reach, and now in the upgrade from Reach to Halo 4.

Neither system is truly maxed out, not that titles released for them will be worlds different in two years compared to now. As long as devs keep throwing time and money at their engines, there will continue to be improvements.

not sure how "lol" meant i didn't know what "untapped power" means
but whatevs...

That image of Halo 4's two discs popped up on NeoGAF earlier today. Some in the forum shrugged it off, saying that reviewers must be getting their copies, to which I chuckle heartily. I can't remember the last time, if ever, consumer code was sent out for review three weeks before release. Please.

What really lends credence to this leak hubbub is the fact that a Microsoft spokesperson told Game Informer they were working with law enforcement and Microsoft corporate security to "address the situation." Asked if the game had in fact leaked early, the spokesman did not reply.

Meantime, says GI, numerous YouTube videos featuring Halo 4 content have been yanked down. I guess the big actual news here, at least, is that Halo 4 has at least gone to gold master. This will all be a nice warmup for next year, as Grand Theft Auto V nears release, and we get a thousand videos showing discs but no loading screen nor gameplay.

Wonderful news everyone, the best series on earth is being or is going to get justice when it sells a million copies. lol See my sarcasm? Microsoft reps - "Is that our game? It is? Call the Police!"

Awesome new TV ad for Halo 4.

Actually I have $20 down already. To be honest I'm kind of ready to play a new Halo campaign. I think you can get lost in the multiaspects of Halo. Either stuck in the online crowd playing multiplayer and ditching single player, or going with the single player and reading up on the story.

It has a great premise, but I think it gets saturated sometimes. Like Red vs Blue I can't seem to laugh a single moment at and the MLG stuff I like to ignore all together.

So this game is getting a lot of positive reviews.

11-02-2012, 06:02 PM
Some Youtubers who got early play-time with it have given it glowing reviews too, I haven't heard much bad said against it.

I'm glad it's getting great reviews, can't wait to play the campaign myself. It's the only reason I still have my Xbox.

Crap I thought I was done with Halo. Reviews might drag me back for one more tour.

KoS; I think someone at EGM disagrees. 70 isn't bad, but its not an 80.

EGM is back?

11-03-2012, 12:33 AM
They came back in 2010.

11-03-2012, 12:00 PM
They came back in 2010.

They're cool. I remember before the internet they had like 2 magazines one with gaming news/reviews and another with strategies. Both were freakin thick magazines, though half of it were ads.

11-04-2012, 05:31 AM
Yeah I use to enjoy there reviews because they were set up like Famitsu with three/four reviews instead of just the one for each game.

11-04-2012, 11:17 PM
I'll probably go to the semi-large launch tomorrow night. No one else?

02-11-2013, 02:02 AM
I know it has its detractors and nothing will ever live up to the legendary Halo 2 multiplayer, but does anyone here play Halo 4 multiplayer?

BTW, the campiagn in Halo 4 is average at best.
