View Full Version : Day-Z full game announced

Thatís right, this is actually happening - DayZ will be developed as a standalone game, with me as project lead, by Bohemia Interactive. This is the fairy-tale outcome for a mod that many would have said impossible four months ago.

Development and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game, so anyone who is playing the mod now will be able to continue to do so. The project will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price.

I realize people will have many, many questions - but we wanted to let everyone know the announcement now. Over the coming weeks, these questions will be answered. The game will have itís own site, www.dayzgame.com and the mod will continue at itís present link.

Thank God. Hopefully they will contain it so that it's not open to 3rd party scripts. The hacking in that game has gotten worse since I left for my work in Montana. Though there have been some funny moments: Last night, members of my party were teleported to a dark and rainy forested part of the map and a little girl was singing 'it's raining, it's pouring...' again and again. He said "fuck this" and disconnected.

All I want is some kind of purpose to the game. I loved it at the start but after the first few goes it just becomes a bit boring, I haven't really touched it for ages, neither have my friends. I'm lying down somewhere in Elektro with about 2000 blood and about 80 shotgun shells. :P

I think this is the first footage of the Standalone. It's not much, just Rocket and Matt putting on clothes, picking up loot (no more loot 'piles'!), and map overviews.

Things are coming along....albeit very, very slowly. They are aiming for late June to be the launch of alpha, which still looks very rough. Though it doesn't look as rough as the mod did at launch!
